For the wedding supporters out there

There are a handful of you idog ladies who have been so sweet and supportive and oh so curious about my wedding stuff, especially the dress. Wink So I thought I would post a few pics from today for you.

The dress came in this week, about 6 weeks earlier than expected. Fortunately, I don’t have to start doing alterations till mid April so I still have a little more time to finish losing the last 5 pounds or so I really want to lose. THANK GOODNESS!! Once that happens, they can alter the dress so that the length fits me and add in the built in bra (don’t need a separate bra since the corset back makes this dress so tight). I also plan to take off the spaghetti straps (they fit me horribly anyway...)and add in some sort of small cap sleeve to make the bodice a little more feminine. If all goes well, they won’t have to do too many alterations in addition to the above items.

I must say today was the first day I really felt like things are coming together and it will be here before I know it. Not sure I will be ready in time...lol

So here are some pics… (please ignore the straps that dont fit and would stay pinned and the oh so lovely look of impatience on my face while I wait for the pics to be taken...lol).

And here are my "ballroom dancing shoes" i picked out as wedding shoes due to the type of comfortable heel and overall comfort they provide. I wasn't sure when I created the combo of different shoe style options how well they would go or if they would be OK with the dress, but I must say I think they look pretty good with it.

Oh! I'm soo jealous! You look LOVELY!! I wish my wedding had a set date so I can go nuts. Lol. We haven't set a date yet but soon I hope..

You look like you're having fun as well! Smile And just so ya know, I plan on sneaking runners under my dress instead of heels. Lol Devil

That dress is gorgeous!! Oh the lace up back, so pretty yet so mind numbingly tight!!!!!

Shelly - that dress looks beautiful and you look absolutely beautiful in it. I can see what you mean about the straps and I think your plans to alter it is going to make the dress even better. My favorite part is the corset back - I love it. The shoes are very pretty too and I can already see you dancing your heart out Big Smile

Wow that is gorgeous! I love the neckline and I also love cap sleeves. I couldn't find anything like that, but never thought to have someone add them.

I too really love the corset back, but I think my favorite part is the top. The lacey, flowery type pattern in different colors with the swarovski crystals stole me on the dress. I didn’t originally like the crushed Grecian taffeta, but I loved how short the train was and really appreciated how light the skirt fabric is. The top is actually much prettier in real life that the couple of bodice pics I showed.

I liked all the gowns I had chosen as my "top picks" and I was down to 2 different Alfred Angelo gowns and had come back to decide which one I wanted and then I saw this Maggie Sottero and knew I had to try it on. I was going for “vintage sexy” and the other gowns weren’t quite right…The had vintage down, but were lacking a tad in the sexy dept. I think this one hit the mark and it will be much better after bodice alterations and additions of cap sleeves.

Like Jenny said, the back IS gonna be a total PITA to do up and I must admit that I am unsure how much dancing, yet alone walking I can do in that skirt… it is pretty darn tight! I also am a bit unsure how I might be able to easily use the restroom in this dress…. Confused

Wow! I don't know how it is even possible but it looks even better on you than the first time I saw it....maybe it was a sample or maybe it wasn't you in the first pic...I just remember the dress....it is so beautiful and so becoming on you! I LOVE the shoes too! Thanks for sharing!

I think everyone has this issue b/c even if your dress isn't tight, they are big and bulky. I had one of my bridesmaids, who is my cousin, help me. She held my dress up for me while I went to the bathroom. We had to go back up to the dressing room each time b/c it was a nice big roomy bathroom and wasn't a stall. I am sure your stepdaughter will do the same for you.

I wouldn't have thought they could just easily add that kind of thing either, but a good seamstress can. The bridal shop place I bought it from is known for their alterations so i have confidence she can figure out something good for me when the time comes for alterations.

Boneyjean- The dress looks different than the ones I took before because the other one was the store model and too big for me so it was pinned in a bunch of different places. Other than the straps on this one, a little alterations in the bodice and bringing up the length a few inches (which will likely make enough extra material for the sleeves!!), It fits pretty well but we got lucky when guessing the correct size to get. but that is also why I could walk in the other one and I cant walk in this one...lol

On a side note ladies... if any of your friends, family are getting married and looking for a dress, have them find a shop that carries Maggie Sottero. Many of her styles are a little more unique and she has a TON of them, plus her quality is great and price is OUTSTANDING. You can find PLENTY in the $500-$700 price range .

Boneyjean, you just had one person? I had to have 2 of my girls in there with me holding each side of my dress up, lol. Try peeing with that audience! If you've seen 27 dresses, while the bride is going to the bathroom and katherine heigl is holding her dress, that awkwardness, yeah thats exactly what its like.

My other problem is that it looks like my bodies “female timing” is gonna fall RIGHT on the wedding day, so since I will be in that dress for about 9 hours total that day, I need to go to the doc and see if I can get some hormones to alter my schedule a bit. I can’t imagine having to take my stepdtr and maybe even a friend into the TINY stalls they have on that ship and deal with feminine issues all while they are holding my dress. Sad

BC Pills are your friend on that day. I had to go to the dr. a few months before and get on the pill again just because mine was going to fall possibly on my day too.
