...Dog movies....this is probably dating me, but when I was a kid there was a couple of movies involving dobermans, they were trained to rob banks using silent whistles.  I think the first movie was called Daring Dobermans or something similar.  There was a sequel although the name escapes me.  I think it was a TV movie not a regular movie.  Thinking back they were probably pretty cheesy but as a kid I loved them.  I also loved the Benji movies.

P.S. Just googled the doberman movies, the fist one was called the Doberman Gang, the sequel was the Daring Dobermans [:D]

I swear you're the only other person I know that saw those movies.  I absolutely loved them, especially The Doberman Gang.  That was the first I'd ever heard of Dobermans.  The funny thing is, I didn't see big fierce "man eaters",  I saw highly intellegent dogs that could be trained to amazing things.  Do you remember their names?  [sm=proud.gif]

I agree, I was not scared of the dogs, I just thought, "wow, those dogs are so smart".  Glad someone else watched those too!! [:)] If I remember correctly the dogs had "gangster" names, I think Dillenger, Clyde, Bonnie (?), don't remember if that is right though... Do you remember their names?

I also loved the Fox and the Hound, that is a classic. Homeward Bound was also pretty good although I was a blubbering mess by the end!![:D]

Old Yeller, Milo and Otis, Homeward Bound, Lady and the Tramp, Fox and the Hound, My Dog Skip, Fluke, and K-9

Best in Show is my favorite "dog" movie.  I can't watch other dogs movies, I cry like a baby & I do enough of that in my life that I don't need to see a movie to make me cry.

    O boy, I have lots

    White Fang
    Homeward bound (1 and 2)
Niki wild dog of the north
Where the red fern grows (1 and 2, although I cry everytime I see them!!!)
    Old Yeller
I loved the Rin Tin Tin shows, I wish they still played them!!!!
    101 problems for Hercules

and I'm sure there are more, there are so many good dog movies out there, although it seems like most of them make me cry, I wonder why that is?

LOL  I had those names engraved on my brain through my teenage years.  There was Dillinger, Bonnie, Clyde, Machine Gun Kelly, Ma Barker and Baby Faced Nelson.  Remember when the one was hit by a car after the robbery, and one of the others ran back and took the saddle bag of money?  Gosh, I wish I could find that movie on DVD!

Wow, you have a good memory!! Yeah, I remember that scene when one gets hit by the car.  If I remember correctly at the end of the movie a kid ends up with the dogs and the "bad guys" go to jail.  I found the movies on Amazon but only on VHS, we don't have a VHS machine anymore, so if you find them on DVD give a shout I'd love to get them too!!

Barngirl - Where the red fern goes... I totally forgot about that one.  I read the book when I was much younger (before movie came out) and loved it, bawled like a baby.  The movie was great!!

Ah, horse movies.....too many on my favorites list to name here, but one that always comes to mind is Phar Lap, love that movie, although I haven't seen it in a while as it is very sad.  Dog movies....this is probably dating me, but when I was a kid there was a couple of movies involving dobermans, they were trained to rob banks using silent whistles.  I think the first movie was called Daring Dobermans or something similar.  There was a sequel although the name escapes me.  I think it was a TV movie not a regular movie.  Thinking back they were probably pretty cheesy but as a kid I loved them.  I also loved the Benji movies.

    I loved the Doberman Gang!

Wasn't Fred Astaire in one of the doberman movies?

Hmmm, favorite dog movie, I love Lady and the Tramp.  I also really, really liked Babe, not quite a dog movie.  Where the Red Fern Grows is a great movie, but how did anyone manage to watch it more than once?

Goodbye My Lady - Sidney Poitier AND a basenji  It's not really a great movie, but it does have one of badsenjis.  (There's also a basenji in the African Queen.  Look quick!)

I also LOVE Bringing Up Baby which is not really a dog movie, but the scene where Katherine Hepburn and Cary Grant are trying to find the dinosaur bone the dog burried is really funny.

There's an old Hollywood saying that you shouldn't do a movie with a dog because you will always get upstaged.

I liked the Shaggy Dog and Benji movies. White Fang and Call of the Wild. I liked Snowdogs, partially because I like both Cuba Gooding Jr. and James Colburn ( it was one of the last, if not the last movie he made.) And, of course, 8 Below. And I could swear that the woman in 8 Below was the same woman who was in Snowdogs.

Of course, I also like the ORIGINAL Lassie movies, but didn't care for the series.
