I volunteer & foster for a Papillon rescue group & this one is personal. I pulled a little Pap from a no-kill shelter. He was returned to the shelter because he had nipped @ a child. Okay, some Paps don't get along with kids. No biggie. I took him to my vet before handing him over to his foster mom. I had them do a HW test because my vet is cheaper than his foster mom's. Anyway, I had noticed that he had problems holding his pee. I thought possible UTI. Make a note to have foster mom have that checked out. While the techs were trying to draw blood on him he peed on the table. I noticed that there were crystals on the exam table. Alarm bells go off in my head. This is NOT good. After the techs left the room I found a vial to scoop the crystals into. Once he & I were on our way to meet his foster mom, I called her to tell her she might want to make an appointment for him ASAP to have the crystals checked out. Fast forward to last week. After being on antibiotics for a while to clear up potential bladder stone & help with his teeth he was still not able to hold his pee OR poo. His breath would kill a mule @ 100 paces. His Foster's vet took x-rays. This poor little guy had bladder stones filling his bladder. He estimated that this dog had about 10% of his bladder stone free. TEN PERCENT! No WONDER this kiddo was snippy. He went into surgery today for his stones and for his dental. He had 12-14 teeth removed.
Please send some powerful i-dog healing vibes for this little boy. He's had such a rough start in life & needs some loving, a good home & to be healthy. My heart is breaking for him.
