Republican/Conservative Corner

The trickle down theory works.  It was proven the the 80's with the Reagan tax cuts and again after 2001 with the Bush tax cuts.  Our growth in the 80 and 90 was fueled by those tax cuts that Reagan pushed thru.

Yes the rich get the biggest part of the cut.  They are also the ones paying the most!  Now I ask you do you believe in our constitution that states that everyone should be treated equally under the law or socialism where the wealth should be spread around and people that make too much money should have it taken away from them.

Check some time to see how much in taxes is paid by what percentage of people as to what they earn.  The top 5% of wages pays over 50% of the total taxes.  The top 50% pay over 95% of taxes.

That was my argument/side and that's why I always felt I was Republican because of feeling this same way that Timsdat just said

For everyone dollar my Dad makes he pays 44 cents to the government. [He told me this two weeks ago] My mouth DROPPED...

If you are not making enough money you either have to get a better job, move closer to work, or get a second job.  Hey, I know it's rough--the only reason we are able to afford a home is because DH makes roughly twice what I do (and I have more education than him--go figure).

Forgot one,  Cut back and live within your means!!!

Ok then don't complain that you don't have any money because of something you did to yourself.  Bare down and fix the problem.  I'm sure that if you looked at your budget there is some fat that could be trimmed.

Who is a declared Republican? Who tends to lean more to Republican values? Who is Conservative?
I am conservative and a registered republican. I consider myself more of an Independent who votes republican since they tend to have the more conservative candidates. I would vote for any party provided the person was the one I thought best for the country but if they were not conservative they would not get my vote.

What would you like to see happen with a new President in office?
I want to see a very tough stance on terrorism and no let down in the effort to eradicate them, with more emphasis on catching Bin Ladin and taking a hard stance with countries that harbor terrorists. I want to see a fiscally responsible government without raising taxes to pay for all kinds of pork bills.

What do you hope for our nation's future?
I want to see us prosper and be safe

    What do you value?
I am assuming this is in relation to politics and will answer accordingly. Honesty (do not see it much), integrity (same) tenacity (something I admire about GBush) I want my president to have high moral standards and family values

Initial reaction to this is "ummm yes lets do this" but then I think wait a minute... the lower/middle class will get "screwed" in a way since they can't make it too low so they will make it a decent percentage and then it may be higher than what some people are paying now... right????

Did they ball park a percentage yet???

the upper class usually balks at flat rate taxes in my experience.

I could do it but you probably wouldn't like it.  Three quick things,  got a cell phone,  cable tv, internet access.  Get rid of those three and there is probably a couple of hundred already.  These are not necessity's of life and you could get along just fine without them.  I seem to remember something about season tickets to a sports team.  That must cost a pretty penny!  Didn't you just get a new big screen TV.  Kind of pricey isn't it.

Well the flat tax eliminates all deductions and tax shelters but beyond that it completely does away with need for tax accountants and tax lawyers and many of those people are the upper class as you describe so they are looking out for their livelyhood.  See if you are rich beyond a certain point you can shelter much of your income easily so the current system can't really touch you.  If you are one of the sort of rich people or middle class flat tax in in a persons benefit depending on the rate they set.

Boyfriend pays for Cable/Internet & he bought the TV (psh that guy is screwed financially... lol you need to talk to him about trimming the fat)

I have no idea what I would do w/o my cell phone... it rings all the time I MUST need it ;o) Okay that is $50 a month I really wanna keep :o(

My family inherited the tickets so my Dad pays for those... so I got to attend all the games for free; that's my one special life event! haha

My boyfriend is a tech FREAK... I think he'd die without his stuff... if you walked in my apartment you seriously would laugh at me, I have no doubt in that. I have everything I could possibly need minus money in the bank... I hate that though
