    Update on Nolan, Good news!

We went back to the hospital today for his weight checkup and he has gained 1.7 ounces.Big Smile I had some concerns about him being jaundice and they said he is, but it's so little that they won't do lab work for it. But we are gaining weight on schedule..at least a half ounce a day..and I found out why nursing has been so hard for me! When she was examining him she asked me if my nipples were sore and I told her yes..she told me that the little attachment thing under his tongue was very close to the front of his mouth and that makes it to where he can only suck the nipple and not around it because he can't get his tongue out very far. But anyway, I'll take being sore if my baby is gaining weight and getting the nutrients he needs.

And because it wouldn't be a proper post without them...here are some more pictures.

his newborn stuff is big on him...

OMGosh!  He's precious!  Look how bright and wide his eyes are!  Usually newborns aren't so wide awake looking, but he's ready to go. lol  And he's smiling!  How precious!  Thanks soooo much for sharing your pics.  Glad to hear you got some answers about your breast feeding, and I wish you great luck and much happiness w/ your new little baby boy!  He's adorable!

Agreed - what a photogenic face!!!!!  Glad to hear that the doctors are happy with his healthy growth and all.  Makes sense about his sucking ability, too.  Wow, babies are amazing!  Hope you're taking good care of yourself and enjoying every moment of this - including the little snipets of sleep you must be getting!  Congratulations!

What a cutie! Keep on chuggin' that milk, Nolan. Smile

My little brother had the same thing with his tongue when he was born. They actually trimmed a bit of it off, because they said if they hadn't he might have trouble with speech later.

Is that tongue-tied? I'd heard of the term before, but not sure that's what this is?

SO glad he's making strides! Cutey-bug!

Gina, I'm not sure there is a medical term for it but I have it too so I'm guessing its genetic. It doesn't affect my speech any I just can't stick my tongue out as far as most people can.
