We have a small Beagle that lives across the street from our home. I never saw him out for a walk or any kind of exercise. He basically sat at the side step (behind a chain link fence0 and barked. This summer he started getting out and would run around the neighbours' yards. Sometimes the owner would scoop him up or whoever saw him. I probably took him back home about a dozen times myself. Just after Christmas we noticed he was getting out a lot. The owner added some extra chain link to the top of the fence but he kept escaping. Then one day I noticed a sign at the corner saying Hecker was missing. I figured that was the end of poor Hecker! A couple weeks later Hecker was back - running around. I grabbed a leash and took him back. No one was home so I dropped him over the fence. No sooner had I turned my back and there he was right at my feet! I dropped him back over and he immediately started climbing the fence. I grabbed him again and decided to use the leash to tie him so he couldn't escape. I was afraid he would strangle himself however, so I tied him to the front porch instead. I checked on him every 10 minutes or so and finally noticed he was gone after about an hour. I didn't see Hecker for a week or so and I noticed the leash was also gone. I felt kind of bad, thinking he had either slipped his collar or someone had stolen him.
Well to my amazement, I went out side to check on why Kobi was barking yeaterday and there was Hecker being walked down the street on MY leash. Hecker seemed delighted and his owner was also enjoying his little walk. Maybe they just needed a leash. LOL!
