    Sowilu

She is skinny. I can see her ribs and her backbone. I can also feel them. I will try to take a picture tomorrow. I think I will be doing an appointment on Monday to atleast get her rabies shot. I am feeding her 2 cups currently. The other day I fed her 4 cups and she regurgitated all of it. I will feed her 2 cups in the afternoon and 2 at night.

NOOOOO!!!!! DO NOT VACCINATE A PREGNANT BITCH!!!!!!!  Will cause birth defects for the unborn pups!

Thanks for letting me know! I was going to ask this question but since you pointed it out to me I will do what you say.

You can see how skinny she is.

Here's a picture of Onix and Shailer, they are enjoying piggy snouts.

I thought the vet was going to take her if the owner didn't want her?  Or was he just going to take her into the shelter and now they're full?  Maybe you could call some shelters that are outside of your area, like in the next city or county.  Possibly they could take her in?  Best of luck to you, and I hope doing several meals a day will help.

Is she basically a black lab?  Maybe there's a lab board where people can help? On the GSD board, we have a Rescue section where people post dogs from all over the country.  Often people with money who don't have the time/space to actually rescue offer to pay for adoption fees, vetting, and transportation for "urgent" dogs.  There was a post last week where someone offered to pay for the adoption, vetting, and transportation by plane for a dog as long as someone would take it.  Maybe a lab board has something similar?

I recieved replies to the emails I send to the other local shelters and all say the same. "We are full at the momment." or "We can take her in but we will have to charge you a small fee. We can try and find a rescue group for her but if we don't she will have to be euthenized." I don't what that to happend to her!  All the rescues are full around here. Thanks rwbeagles!!!!

I know that there are a lot of homeless dogs out there but it saddens me to know that puppies are going to never get a chance to live. Onix looks pretty far along to me.

don't mention it, my pleasure Wink

kle I appreciate the sentiment...but this person is doing what needs to be done, on the advice of a veterinarian, and IMO doesn't deserve whatsoever...to be made to feel the least bit bad about it.

Not only are there too many homeless dogs in the world, this is also a minor who is basically in charge of all of the dog's (and, if she had them, her puppies' care). It takes a lot to care for a litter of pups, and if they all didn't find homes, what would happen to them? I know our shelter only keeps dogs, including puppies, for three days before euthing. One of our nokill shelters here won't even take puppies. If the mother, who is already thin, couldn't care for the litter, who would be handraising them? I'd have to look, but I thought Onix was essentially a pup herself.

Here's hoping Onix comes through surgery wonderfully and makes a great recovery so she can get a permanent homeSmile

Good luck, Miss Onix!  I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.  Give her some kisses from me, preferably on her forehead right between her eyes.  That's my "nobody's going to hurt you" kiss.
