    Watery Poop...now slimy

Bailey pooped alllllll over the bathroom last night, watery diarrhea (spell) and today was the same.  I gave her some pumpkin with her food but she hasnt gone yet.  Any thoughts on what it may be?  She is 4 months old, she gets 1 can of Innova puppy, 1 cup of Innova puppy dry, sardines, and prozyme... this divided into 2 meals.  So each meal is roughly half a can and half a cup dry with sardines and prozyme.  Yesterday she did get an extra meal because we have 2 other dogs over visiting and she ran around like crazy ALL day and I just though she may need the extra food.  Any thoughts?  Its literally like water - no firmness AT ALL.

Sounds like something upset her tummy is all. The pumpkin you gave will help. Take the sardines and prozime out for one feeding and see if that does the trick.

If still concerned call the vet.

ok will try without those and see what happens.  DH just told me she threw up this morning too... so well see, the pumpkin seems to have helped a lot she hasnt gone since then.

Diarrhea is one thing, but diarrhea and throwing up at the same time is when I take them to the vet. This would concernt me a lot. It could be any number of things, and it could be something very bad or something fairly routine (like a dog flu). Has she got all her shots?

Yup shes got all of her shots.   She ate her dinner and then went to sleep, shes in bed with DH right now, I will take her out before I go to sleep and see if she'll go and see what it looks like.  She also ate luch but someone else took her out so I didnt see what it was like... I will certainly take her to the vet Monday if this doesnt stop.... although it seems fine, but I just wanna get a look at her poop again.  Other than that she is acting normal.

i'd be very worried about Parvo with the vomiting. It usually is a lot more common in young dogs and you said your pup is only 4 months. You said she's had her vacs but did she get the 3 sets of the distemper/parvo vac?
I hope its only something she ate. But if she vomits again bring her to your vet immediately as she'd need to be tested and possibly hospitalized.

im not all that experienced with dogs but i do know that they can throw up without being seriously ill.  i would try not to worry too much from one episode but keep a close eye on her and if she vomits again take her to the vet.

Well, today I had a dentist appointment but I cancelled it to keep an eye on her.  Im not sure yet if she needs to go to the vet.  She is eating fine... although I did decide to reduce the amount of food Im giving her.  Can over feeding cause diahrrea?  I realized that the Innova bag of dry said 2.5 cups a day, and with the wet and all I was adding I think she was ending up with about an extra cup of wet a day... so now Ive measured to make sure between the two of them she is only getting 2.5 cups a day total.  This started Friday night when she had soft poop all over the bathroom in the middle of the night, then Sat morning was like water and she threw up.  Then Sat. night I was up with her, taking her out 3 times during the night to poop, and it was still soft.  Last night I was woken up by her and took her out but she only peed.  This morning we took her out to poop and it looked firmer but was still a large amount and not quite normal in firmness.  The only time she threw up was early Sat. morning... she hasnt done that again.  She seems to be sleeping a lot but I think its because during the night she is awake with the pottying and we had lots of people over this weekend and other dogs and she was VERY active with them the first day they were here.  Sunday for Easter she just slept on the couch all day, but I think she is just pooped from all the action and the being up to poop at night.  Last night she did have a lot of gas.  I fed her this morning and am waiting to see what happens.  Don't worry I am keeping a very close eye on her...
Im wondering if you think it may just be the food...?  She just started on Innove wet and dry and was fine for the first week and then this.  She does eat a lot of plants, I am constantly taking them from her and figuring out what it was then I will go look it up on the list, she hasnt had anything poisionous yet that I know of.  Sorry this is so long just wanted to include all the details.

She did get all the shots, when we got her from the pound they said she had been done and then my vet had some confusion over it all and just gave her everything again... I know, but he said it would be okay and we needed to be sure she had everything.  So I def know shes got all the shots she needs.

gosh, i dont know if my opinion even matters since im so new but i really think it could be from the change in food (especially all the extra wet food)  and all the extra activity, that could totally upset the tummy enough to vomit and extra food does cause diahrrea (sp) so does too much wet food, so does change in diet.

yes, overfeeding innova can cause diarrhea, cutting the amount you feed should solve the problem.

So do you think an all wet diet would result in an upset tummy for the duration of that diet?  I saw in another thread that wet food was maybe better for them...?  I will give her more dry than wet, and make sure I dont over feed her and see how it goes.  Also , shes very laid back most of the time... there are a few spurts where she goes crazy but not much.  She loves to sleep.  Do you think this is because the other dogs in the house simply sleep all day and she learned this from them?  They all sleep most of the day.  I guess its not that unusual because if they were crated while I worked they would most likely sleep.  I am just home to see it...

I actually read somewhere that overfeeding is the most common cause of stomach upset and diarrhea in dogs.  I thought that was interesting.

    Hope pups is better soon.
