I have never properly introduced myself here I don't think. I usually post pics of my babies in the photo forum but thats about it. We live in Texas and are in our 20s.
My husband and I are owners of a full blood bull terrier and a full blood labrador (see pics in my profile). We also previously had a half ridgeback/half cur male that was stolen a little over a year ago.
My Bull Terrier is my dream come true. I have wanted a BT my whole life and my hubby finally bought me one around Christmas time. We held off until we could fully research her. Her name is Bailey and she is a fully white BT. A little about her - she is the biggest snuggler we have ever owned. She will smother you!! Its quite heart warming. She loves popsicles (just the ice ones), and she LOVES to bounce off the walls. I did research before we bought her. When you read that these dogs are clownish, they are not lying. She does the funniest things. She will all of a sudden wake up from a dead sleep and run 90 miles an hour in circles then jump over you back and forth, back and forth until it wears you out just watching her. She will go to all the mirrors in the house and bark and bark until she feels she has won against the dog in the mirror!! HAHA... She is very very smart!!! She learned potty training in less than two weeks once we brought her home with a few occasional accidents. She knows to go to the door when she needs to go potty. She knows how to sit and spin. She also knows what we mean when we tell her to get her "squeek-squeek" (her toy). She loves nibbling on earlobes... Awesome breed.
Our lab Nelly is over two years old now. My husband trained her for duck and goose hunting when she was a puppy. And she does her job better than any dog I have ever seen. She knew hand commands and was not gun shy from the day we bought her at 3 months. She is very calm for a lab. She is a great inside and outside dog. She does not chew anything except what she knows is hers. The shedding get quite bad sometimes though. She is very big. She is about 75 pounds of muscle, i believe from all the swimming she does. She loves going for rides in the back of the truck and letting the wind flap her ears. There are times when she will not get out of the truck. She loves to go camping and fetch in the lake.
Our Ridgeback/Cur mixed male, Doobie, was an awesome dog!! He was stolen from our home and I took it very hard for a long time. It took me over a year before we could get another dog because I felt like I couldn't replace him without feeling guilty. I didn't give up hope on that he would be found until around a year since he came missing. He proved me wrong and also learned potty training very quick as well. He was the first male dog I had owned. He was very protective over me. He didn't even like my husband to be around me sometimes if he was cuddling with me. He was never aggressive with him, but he would have to lay between us and wouldn't settle for anything less. He was a great guard dog but also very loving and gentle. Never was aggressive to any other dog or human. I miss him every day. His coat was always so shiny and pretty even if he was dirty.
I am glad I finally took the time to introduce myself here. Feel free to ask any questions you like on any breeds that I may be able to answer for you. Also feel free to introduce yourself :) I see some of the regulars in the Photo Forum, but never really ventured out of there :)
Happy New Year and look foward to talking to all of you...
