Sasha went wild

    Sasha went wild

As I have said before Sasha can be quite protective. Well today she was downright nuts! There are 2 windows in our dining room that face the steps to come onto our porch(front door). Well I have always left the one window open when the weather is nice to allow her to look outside. When anyone has ever come to the door she always goes through her normal barking and growling and I always just look out the window see who it is and if its ok I tell her so and to settle which she normally does pretty well. Not today! Heck she tried to jump through the screen to get at this man I was talking to on our porch she had never done this before. She literally broke the screen and started to come through the window my heart began pounding. I yelled NO and she went back in continually barking and growling. So I went inside closed the windo and came back out to talk to the man and she sat watching behind the glass just growling. This really shocked me since she has NEVER tried to actually get out of the window at anyone before. Also this was and older gut I don't see how she perceived this particular man as such a threat. I apologized to the man for her behaviour. Just had to share since this really surprised me to see her to get that aggressive to break the screen. I will Not be leaving that window or any others she can reach that far open again unless I am in the same room with her.[sm=uhoh.gif]

There was something about that man the she did NOT like.  Never under estimate their ability to KNOW.

I agree with Glenda.  Don't discount her ability to sense danger before you can.

Was he a noticibly older man?  Is she not used to being around older people, perhaps?  Romy was skiddish of my ex's father who is 80.  She was fine when he was on the couch, but when he got up off the couch (he lived on the couch) she'd bark at him.

Or like the others said, maybe she could just sense something about him.

I would say to look at him he was probablly late 60's.
There was something about that man the she did NOT like.

I kinda was thinking that was possible.
My only fear was that she actually get out the window and bite him. I mean I like that she wants to protect me seeing that I am a chicken and many times home alone but don't want her to actually keep trying to break through windows to attack people just for knocking on the door.

Just curious, but what was the man there for?
It just crossed my mind that some people will pose as people taking a pole, selling something, etc, just to scope out your house and see if it would be a good target for burglery.
Wouldn't that be great if Sasha sensed something hokey and prevented it?  [:)]

"Wouldn't that be great if Sasha sensed something hokey and prevented it?  [:)] " That would be so AWESOME!

I echo what everyone else is saying about your baby sensing something about this fella that it did not like. To add to that, the guy could also be showing fear inwardly and she picked that up also, which does not help the situation any either.

A client of mine has several dogs and something similar happened where Jiggy DID bite the neighbor while the other dog pushed then pinned me against the front door so the guy could not touch me. So, yeah, I can see where your fear of her bitting could happen.[align=right]

Sasha knows, Garrett. There is something not right about that guy. My dogs have never been that protective UNLESS that was the case.

I trust Boss' gut instincts when it comes to things like that.. you just never know.

My mom recently told me about one of her friends and a strange experience. The people had their roof redone the previous year, but someone this woman didn't know showed up at her door recently asking if they could show the other man who was with him the roof.

The woman was home alone and kept telling them no, they asked for access to her back yard and she kept insisting that they could wait until her husband was home. They finally left and they saw on the news later those same 2 men had gained access to someone else's house and robbed and assualted them. Somehow it's tied to the person who did their roof, but he wasn't one of the men who came to her door

We had a boston terrier that did the oddest thing once.  We had a guy come to look at a truck and Peewee went over and sat on his feet.  We took notice of this and actually had a laugh about it.  Well a few nights later we caught this guy trying to break into that truck.  After that if he ever sat on anyone's feet again we made sure to take a mental note. (It did happen in a different case)  These guys just KNOW.  I wish I knew how they knew.......

If that guy were trying to scope our house or thinking of doing anything I would think if he has any sense in his head he definately will not be back around again. I sure in the He** wouldn't come back after such a greeting!

My Pint did not like those pushy religous solicitors that come around and try to get into your house to "Save" you.  She nearly took thier ankles off!!!  My sister was home alone with the kids at the time.  She would probably have been fine if my BIL had been there.

Maybe Sasha sensed your fear.  Even if your fear was that she was going to bite.  But hopefully the guy was some crazy dude that has now been scared staight![:D]

I totally agree with Glenda. I trust my pets instincts. I wouldn't trust that guy!

Talus gets growlly when he sees someone he doesn't like.
Last summer the Breast Cancer Walk was going right past our house and all afternoon we sat outside and said hi to the walkers and encouraged them on.  Talus said hi to everyone who greeted him and talked to him.  But there was one lady he didn't like and
barked like mad at her....i think they just sense something bad about some people...

Gypsy likes almost everyone. The few she doesn't like, I figure there's a darne dgood reason for it!
