I could not believe what awaited me when I came home from school today. My pup stayes in the kitchen closed off by a baby gate when no one is home to watch her. My fiance and I realized a few days ago that she was able to get out of it by CLIMBING on top of her kennel (which we kept right next to the gate) and jumping to the other side of the gate. That was smart enough to get a good laugh out of us. Today, before he left for work, Chris moved the kennel about 3 ft away from the gate so she couldn't jump over the gate from the top of it.
Well, when I opened the door this afternoon, I'm greeted by the Schmee wagging her tail and running around loose in the house. I check that he remembered to close the gate...yep closed. And then I step into the kitchen...what a mess! Two of the shelves in the pantry (at the far end of our kitchen) had fallen! There was broken glass (eep!) and dishwashing detergent (eep!) all over the floor (among other, less dangerous things, like plastic measuring cups). My best guess, is that the shelves fell, and Schmee, my 17 lb. puppy, PUSHED her kennel the three feet to get next to the baby gate, climbed on top of it, and jumped into the rest of the house to get away from the mess!
What a dog!
