    update on Mannie

We weren't able to get Mannie last night. I went and saw him and played with him but now the one guy in the house isn't sure that he wants to put him in a new home. The home they have for him isn't enough for a dog not to mention that they aren't allowed to have dogs in the apartment that they are living in either. The two women wanted me to take him because they know that I will give a great home where he can get a ton of exercise and great care. Right now the only time he goes out is just for a quick potty break and then he is right back in (and they wonder why he is so destructive when left alone in the house) He is really energetic and is only going to be a year old next month so he is still a puppy. They say that they can't take him out more because he doesn't listen and pulls on the leash really bad but they don't want to train him and don't care to learn how to make him easier to live with. They are supposed to call me today and let me know if they are going to keep him or if they are going to bring him to me. I know that if I get him he is going to be a lot of work but he is well worth it.

If we don't get him we are going to look for another rescue to adopt or possibly become foster parents for the humane society the next town over for pit bulls. There is breed specific legislation in a lot of the cities around here and I am one of the few people who live outside of the city limits who it willing to foster pit bulls and who has experience with them so the rescue worker that was working with Mannie is going to send me a list of pits that need foster or adoption and we are going to work something out so that we can help at least one of these dogs out right now.

I really feel like it is my job in life to help pit bulls. I educate everyone I meet about the breed. I invite people over to meet my wonderful Bo when they don't believe me that pits are wonderful family dogs. And I will do my best to rescue dogs that need my help when I am able to. That sounds like a pretty great job to me [:)]

Hopefully they'll make the right choice for Mannie and bring him to you - sounds like they aren't willing to put in the effort needed to keep a dog happy and healthy.
I admire you wanting to foster also - I know I couldn't do it - I get WAY too attached WAY too quick.
