Positive pregnancy test..

Umm, Callie, I was 24 when I had a D and C.  That would make me think it depends on what is going on, rather than age.  At any rate, she needs to have a doctor check her out.

Like the woman said in "Gone With the Wind," "I don't know nuthin' 'bout birthin' babies!" But I would say, get thee to a doctor, and muy pronto.

And no, a miscarriage is not fun. My mother had a miscarriage between me and my younger brother. The fetus was developed enough to tell it was a girl. But you can survive it and I agree, find out why this happened. You may have a unknown ailment that needs attention, whether you get pregnant or not.

Big Hugs to you, whatever the outcome.

Yes,you definetly should see a doctor as it does sound like a miscarriage. I know my daughter had two of them, and both times she bled quite bad.   Good luck to you.

How are you doing tonight? Are you okay?

    • Gold Top Dog

Please keep us posted.  I hope everything is OK!  This must be really really scary.  I would also suggest at least calling your regular doctor and telling them what is going on.  I have never been pregnant but I know sometimes when you are due for your period  and you miss it b/c you are pregnant you will have a little cramping and spotting and even full bleeding while the egg is implanting which I believe is right around two weeks after you ovulate which is also when you should be having your normal period.  I could be wrong here but that is just my understanding.  If you can't get through to the Dr and you had a positive test I would go and get it checked out ASAP.  Better safe than sorry for all involved.

Thank you all for being so supportive. You have no idea how much that means.

I went to the ER not too long after I posted. I had so much done to me. Blood was taken, I had a catheter put in, I had 2 sonograms done (one was with a camera), and I had people looking everywhere.

They said even with both of the sonograms, there was absolutely no evidence I had a baby in my stomach. Everything else though, pointed to me being pregnant. They said I'd be about 7 weeks and 2 days.

I also had an OB doctor check me out, he said that it could be a possibility of 3 things:

    1) miscarriage

    2) normal pregnancy or

    3) ectopic pregnancy.

The doctor said he strongly believes that it isn't an ectopic pregnancy because there was no sign of that, and even doubts it will be a normal pregnancy. He said just from his own opinion, he really thinks I may have already miscarried or I'm actually in the process of it. I have to go back in 48 hours so they can take more blood. They said they'd know more because my hcg now is only like 1300, and it should be around 2500 ..that's why it wasn't very clear on the tests I took. If I go in Monday and it's around 2500, I'm fine.. but if it's the same or it drops any, then I'd had a miscarriage.

My family is really quite upset, and the BF was crying I think, just when I told him I had to go to the ER because I was bleeding. I think now he's pretty depressed.

Again, thank you all for being there.

Redlogos, I am sorry to hear that news, but I am glad you went and had somone take a look, for your health and well being. Please keep us posted, my thoughts are with you.

Hi redlegos, I am sorry you're going through this. I'm sure it's very difficult. I'll be praying for you, your family and bf. {{{hugs}}} I also just wanted to touch on something you mentioned in your other post - that your periods are always late. Not sure how closely you monitor your cycle, but its quite possible that if youre always late, that youre not really late, you just dont have a "28 day" cycle. There is a wonderful book called Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Tony Weschler (website is www.tcoyf.com). This book really explains everything and teaches you how to chart your cycle so you know exactly whats going on with your body. It also helps to either get pregnant or avoid getting pregnant (no chemicals or devices). It will also help reveal any health conditions that may have a hand in why you may have had a miscarriage. I didn't know I had thyroid problems until i started charting my cycles. This book and website (has a great online community similar to this forum) have honestly changed my life. I don't want to sound like a lecture or anything , considering whats going on, but it's a really great tool and I just wanted to pass it along while i had the opportunity. Take care and I hope you find peace in all this and uncover any possible underlying health issues.

Thanks, that seems like something worth checking out.

Sorry if this seems like a gross/weird question.. but since I had the catheter taken out, it burns really bad when I try and go to the bathroom. I haven't went since about 7. (Well, that's when I got out of the ER and tried to go, it hurt so bad I just held it in.) Is there anything that I could do to make this a little more comfortable? They said it was normal and that I just need to drink water, but I can't keep drinking because I'll have to go, and I can't because it burns too much.

Oh, and they said if I did have a miscarriage, I wouldn't need a D/C. The doctor said I wasn't that far along and so it'd be easy for my body to get rid of it. If I were a few more weeks though, I would have had to.

redlegos, aren't you only a teenager?

I'm so sorry you are going through all of this, and I'm glad you went in to get checked out. My thoughts are with you and your BF.

Drink LOTS of water!  DON'T be scared to drink, because you will have to go eventuially anyway and your urine will be very strong.  Drinking lots will make it more dilute and more comfortable.  DON'T hold it in, or you will end up with a urine infection as well and they are horrible.  Drink, drink, drink like a fish.  And I'd just go back to the doctor if that didn't improve.

I'm glad it's not likely to be an ectopic pregnancy.  I am so sorry for what you are going through.  It is scary, but hang in there.  We're all here for you OK?

I'm so glad to hear that you saw a doctor!  I've always been reluctant to give medical advice, but when you've been there and know something, I guess it may help steer someone in the right direction.

Now it is is important for you to get a few days rest to get your strength back up.  We're thinking of you!

I'm glad you went in to the doctor. Gosh, I bet yesterday wasn't such a great day, huh? Tongue Tied Hang in there, you can pull through this! I'm not smart or experienced or anything like that, but if you ever want to just talk/vent/whatever, I'm just a PM away.
