Keeshond or Elkhound??

These two guys are at LRAS in AR .They are listed as keeshonds but they sure look like elkhounds to me! Hey Jeano! They do transport!

Oh yes we do, but to get them to Alaska, we would have to fly them & adopter (or donations made to adopter) would have to pay the flight.

I would definantly give you a good recomendation

I dont know much about the breeds though and really cant tell the difference..

LOL I've learned a few things over the years, too.

Boy, did I goof- I emailed Jean about the Elkies in Alaska. I saw AK and automatically thought Alaska. LOL

OOPS! They are in Arkansas! I think the members on this board could pull together and get one of them to her somehow.That is if they are still there and she is still interested.

And what happened to our curley tails - I'm so bad at screennames - one of the dogs' names was Loki!?

I emailed Elkhound rescue and the contact in that state. It's a good thought to email Jeano, but that could take some time to work out if she wants to try for one or both...these dogs need to be sprung ASAP imo...so hopefully their rescue org can help with that part.

Edited-I heard that the dogs are being reclaimed.

If not, Deb has been working with a rescue who will take them.

I am working with John Nelson Moosedog Rescue....and they say they will be sure to have a doggie for me when I make my trip this August/Sept.

We shall see!

As far as appearance, basically the Kees is long haired (think Sheltie like), and has markings around thier eyes that look like spectacles. An Elkhound's coat is more like a Siberian Husky's, and the Elkie is slightly bigger than the Kees. The breed standards:

Norwegian Elkhound

Yep I got email just now RECLAIMED BY OWNER! yay! I bet they will likely be A LOT more careful who they leave their hounds with next time lol! Nice happy ending for a nice rainy Monday!
