    Any good movies out?

Anything you guys have seen recently and liked? :)

I liked Lars and the Real Girl, but it was slow. It was sweet, but a little too subtle/emotional for what I was looking for at the moment.

American Gangster was, I thought, a great movie. Despite a few scenes of wayyy over-the-top gratuitous violence.

I'm interested in Beowulf but have heard definitely mixed reviews.

What have you guys enjoyed, or what do you want to see?

Atonement will be out soon.  A bunch of people at work went to a screening and said it was AMAZING.  Chick flick though.

I'm a huge fan of Stephen King, and his new movie coming out, or is out and I want to see is The Mist.  It was a short story in one of his books and I remember being up soooo late reading, looking at the clock going "I have to go to sleep, the girls are going to be up in 6 hrs."  LOL  I couldn't put the book down.  But I hated the ending...I was so dissappointed.  I was like "What?  That's it?  Nooooo!"  So, I actually got the book, since they now have it seperately, so I'm reading it now, I'm half way thru it and I'm hoping he added more to it.  Since I read it so long ago, and now the movies out, I had to read it again, and then I want to go see the movie.  Can't wait!!!  I also, want to take Emily to go see the movie that's out...forget the title, but it's about a fairy tale princess, that comes into the real world.  It looks cute!  I'm a big kid at heart, so I love taking her to see those kinds of movies!

I can't wait to see Alvin and the Chipmujnks (yes, I'm serious).  I wanted to see Lars and the Real Girl but it didn't stay around long here at all.  Beowulf would be a ME movie but not a David movie (he is not into violence and action kinda stuff).

Can't wait to see Atonement! I read the book, and it was great. Because there are scenes of WWII, I wouldn't consider it strictly a "chick flick", at least that's how I sold it to my hubby, lol! I hope it's in wide release soon, no way am I going to SF to see it.

LOVED No Country for Old Men!!! I'm also waiting for Before The Devil Knows You're Dead to hit wide release.

The fairy tale movie I think is called Enchanted, and it's supposed to be very good. I'm a huge Stephen King fan too, but The Mist got awful reviews, as did Beowulf, so those might get added to my Neflix list, but I don't think I'll be seeing them in the theater.

If you're going to see Beowulf, I think you really have to see it in the theater. How are they going to work the 3-D at home?

I took a friend's little (16 yo) sister out to the movies today. We saw The Golden Compass. It was cute, and fun. Nothing particularly deep or spectacular, but it was a nice and entertaining movie. I would recommend it if you want to look at pretty pictures and animals and not have to think too hard for a couple hours Smile

the only movie out right now that i have any interest in seeing at the theater is no country for old men.

I haven't been to a movie in ages, but I want to see American Gangster, The Golden Compass, August Rush, and The Mist.  I also need to catch up (*cough* bit torrent) some recent ones I missed (that other Russell Crowe one).

I saw part of Enchanted on Thanksgiving and ended up walking out because my friend and I thought it was terrible. We went in to Mr.Magorium's Wonder Emporium after that, and that was worse.

I took my sister to see the Golden Compass at midnight Friday for her birthday. I thought it was pretty good. I didn't read the book, but she did. Even without reading the book, I knew there were some changes made that shouldn't have been. Some of those things would have helped the viewers in understanding the characters a bit more, and from what my sister told me, the major one that I picked up on becomes more important in the future stories.

I want to see Awake, but bf absolutely refuses.  He claims that he's afraid that after seeing the movie, he would never be willing to go in for surgery.

Ohmigosh, me too!!! Even just the trailer freaks me out. No thank you. Ottoluv, bet you're going to love it when patients start asking you about movie-related fears, lol!

I really liked "American Gangster." It was just really... hardcore. My friend and I both walked out of the theater with a huge headache, but agreeing that it was a great movie. It's just very in-your-face and there were definitely a few violent scenes that were thrown in there just for violence's sake (like the opener), which always bothers me.

I haven't seen a movie in theater in like 2 1/2 years. Hmm Sad..

I wanna see Juno. Michael Cera & Jason Bateman together again! What a joyous day! Big Smile

I am not a sci-fi person, but we will likely go see I Am Legend because bf really wants to see it.

Even though I doubt that I'll like the movie, how can I complain about getting to look at Will Smith for 2 hours???Big Smile
