Most puppies in pet stores do come from mill. A few do come from back yard breeders. But you can show her that they never come from GOOD breeders. From the Code of Ethics of the Samoyed Club of America:
"The SCA member does not sell, consign, or transfer puppies, or adults to pet shops, wholesale dealers, contest sponsors, or anyone who is known to degrade the Samoyed breed or purebred dogs, or to individuals contemplating breeding and/or sale to the aforementioned."
A couple years ago I randomly selected about eight different breeds, and looked up their code of ethics. They ALL prohibited selling puppies to pet stores or brokers.
If you want to show her the code for multiple breeds, it is pretty easy. Go to http://www.akc.org/ and pick a breed. On the left you will see "National Breed Club." Select that and you will get contact info for the club including their web site. On the web site search for Code of Ethics or Breeders Code of Conduct or something like that.
Thanks for trying to educate!
