    Need some help, please

    So my loving DH has decided to get me a GSD puppy for Christmas.  I have wanted one for years now, and we've been talking about getting a second dog.  So we went last night to go pick him out, he's adorable!! Black and Tan with a darker face, and soooo laid back.  I picked him up and he just laid on his back like "okay please scratch my tummy, please"  I held him for a bit and put him back down so he could run and play with the rest of the puppies.   He took a few steps away and then promptly came back and wandered around my legs.  Then he planted himself betenn my feet and sat there.  If he got up he would only stray a few steps away before coming back to sit beside me.  So if course I decided he had to come home with us!!  We pick him up on the 14th and I can't wait!!!

    But now is where I need your help.  We have JD now (short for Jack Daniels) and hubby wants to name him JR But all I can think of is "who shot JR?" I need some ideas for names.  I don't like the usual Bear, Max, Duke sort of names (no offence to anyone with pups with those names)
    I was looking at Native translations, but nothing really jumped out at me.  I was thinking something to do with loyal, love, night or something to that effect.

     So because you're all soo good at it, please help!! Fire away!! Smile

    For male GSDs, I like Asa, Ansel, Ali, Ajax, Fero, Fedor, Hoss, Jeck, Ludo, Luca, Fuessen, Karly...more German/SV type names.

    What breeder is the dog from?

    • Gold Top Dog

    He's not from a breeder, more of a rescue situation "oopsie"

    They had the male and female seperated, but before they could get him fixed he managed to "find" her in the garage and opened the door himself Indifferent  Mom is Sasha  and Dad is Max

    If you're looking for translated names from other cultures, some I have liked in the past are:

    Native American:

    Niyol - "wind"; Rowtag - "fire"; Sikis - "friend"; Takoda - "friend to everyone"; Taima - "thunder"; Shoteka - "sky"

    Ancient Runic:

    Uruz - "strength/power"; Raido - "journey/ride"; Dagaz - "day"

    Egyptian:

    Ra - "Sun God"; Rameses - "Ra's son"; Jabari - "brave"

    Hope some of these help!  And post pictures of your new furbaby soon!

    Hello!

    Is he going to be big?  I often take those names that are common and translate them into other languages such as:

    In MicMac:

    Muwin = Bear

    Tiyam = Moose

    Pop is 105 and Mum is easily 80 pounds.  I think he'll easily be in the 80-90 range.

    I was trying to find sites that translate but wasn't having much luck.

    The only thing I can think of is Eclipse....it's not really night, but it is nature related.

    What about Whiskey? or JB for Jim Beam? or soco for southern comfort? I went to a drink mixing site to look for alcohol names before! GL, I bet he'll be your best friend, he sounds like our Keo when we picked him out. He basically picked us!

    Congratulations! What a great husband.

    I like the sound of names more then what they mean. Jaia was almost named Lyric. I still love it. Some other names we mulled over were, Zion, Reiner and Deja. I just start messing around with sounds and see what happens. LOL
