    Please read :(

I just had a lovely evening out and came home to find this message on my PC.  How could I not forward and cross post it even though I have had it before?  I don't even know how much difference petitions like this make, but if you want me to send you  the full version and the list so you can add your name and forward it on, please PM me.

Sorry to put this on you all

Do you remember February 1993 in England , when a
young boy of 3 was taken from a Liverpool shopping
    centre by two 10-year-old boys?
Jamie Bulger walked away from his mother for only
a second, Jon Venables took his hand and led him out
of the mall with his friend Robert Thompson. They took
Jamie on a walk for over 2 and a half miles, along the
way stopping every now and again to
torture the poor little boy who was crying
    constantly for his mummy.
Finally they stopped at a railway track where they
[Horrific content edited out by me becuase I know there are younger readers here.]  Other mutilations were
inflicted but not reported in the press.

    N.B. :- Remember, a 3year old cannot possibly
defend themselves against a 10 year old, let alone of
    2 them.

What these two boys did was so horrendous that
Jamie's mother was forbidden to identify his body.
They then left his beaten small body on railway
tracks so a train could run him over to hide the mess
they had created. These two boys, even being boys,
understood what they did was wrong, hence trying to
make it look like an accident.

This week Lady Justice Butler-Sloss has awarded
the two boys ( now men ), anonymity for the rest of
their lives when they leave custody with new
identities. They will also leave custody early only
serving just over half of their sentence.
They are being relocated to Australia to live out
the rest of their lives. They disgustingly and
violently took Jamie's life away and in return they
    each get a new life!

Please.... . If you feel as strongly as we do, (
and if you haven't already signed this petition ) that
this is a grave Miscarriage of justice - Hit the
forward button and add your name at the end, and send
it to everyone you can !

If you are the 700th person to sign, please
    forward this e-mail to: cust.ser.cs@gtnet.gov.uk
and mark it for the attention it to Lady Justice
    Butler-Sloss.

Then continue on until it hits 1400, before you
    email her the list again.
There is power in numbers & these petitions do
    help.
Maybe it'll prevent another child from a violent
death & maybe it'll get greater, more appropriate
convictions for these criminals....whatever their age.

Please take a few seconds to forward it to your
mail list & don't forget to add your name to the list.

    Thank you.

further reading from snopes so interested folks can also read...it is NOT censored or edited to be aware the crime is heinous. There is interesting reading there on the petition tho. Also on the laws relevant etc.

     Wow...how awful. I can't imagine...

I remember when that happened.  I have always wanted to go to the UK and some how I have it in my head that the British don't have the crime that we do here in the USA.  I was so shocked that they were only 10 and my heart broke for that little boy and his family.  I wonder how the Australia people feel about having those Monsters in their country?

I am purposefully leaving this a bit open ended...I have heard of this case before and have heard many different opinions.... these boys were ten when then comitted this horrific crime.

Can a ten year old fully grasp the meaning of such a thing? Can we really keep them behind bars for the rest of their lives because of a crime (albeit a terrible one) that was comitted when then vast majority of people will agree that you cannot make truly informed independent decisions? Of course, something had to be done, and they did serve time - note, I am by no means saying this was some foolish kid thing - this was indeed a very serious occurrence.

Should they be kept "watch on", psychologically evaluated, and perhaps comitted if necessary?

Or was this crime so terrible that they deserve life incarceration?

In any case, these were some very sick ten year olds. Where were the parents in all of this, does anyone know?

As far as 10 yrs olds not being able to fully grasp the meaning of such a thing, I'd have to say what 10 yrs old EVEN THINKS OF THIS AS AN OPTION!?  Only the sickest of minds would start at such a tender age.

I'd be raising holy hell if i were an Aussie, this is horrific.

I have to agree with this 100%.  These two are well on their way to becoming serial killers. I'd have to vote for keeping them locked up - and if not, certainly keep a close watch on them.

    I second Lani and Joyce.

I agree as well, I'm certainly not defending their actions. My opinion is that instead of just locking them up, finding out what's wrong with these kids. They obviously need some sort of committment to a mental home...I don't think just jail solves anything when you run into something as disturbing as this. Maybe these kids have some terrible mental illness - I still think that institutionalizing, rather than just jail, would be the better answer). Honestly, any 10 year old who does this HAS to be horribly mentally wrong or sick in some way, and should have deserved some help somewhere along the way. Its frightening how many kids with issues are ignored. I mean, look at the VA Tech shootings, close to my heart as I was on campus at the time. This kid was severly depressed, suicidal, sociopathic, very, very messed up...and no one DID anything. Until it was too late. Doesn't excuse his actions, but seriously...people need to wake up to what is happening with their kids and not just shove it under the rug with ordinary punishment....

I keep thinking of the little boys Mother.  She'll never feel his kisses, get hand made Christmas cards made with macaroni or have the joy of watching him succeed in life.   I say, jail forever!!   At least they will be alive.   This world has many serial killers to study from.   However, I do believe that people can change.  I believe in forgiveness but the Mommy in me just can't muster it up in this case.

100% agreement.  I never thought I would be like this, but I can't even read stories like this without becoming enraged at the killers and feeling so deeply sorrowful for the mothers.  I have read this story before and it horrified me and still does, but I can't bring myself to read it again.  How can monsters like these exist?  What happens to a child of this age that they would do this??

Gina I am personally highly suspicious of e-petitions, but as I said, how could I not send this on?  I had already received this aaaages ago so I did suspect that it was already done and they were already released.  I feel kinda sorry now that I put this up but the mum in me wouldn't let me not do it, if that makes sense.  Do the public have a right to know if a dangerous criminal living on their street?  Do we have a right to be reassured that the offenders have been successfully rehabilitated?  And what about the offenders?  Do they have any rights at all?  I have Will in my arms at the moment, he is squashy and warm and his pudgy fingers are patting my face.  I think you can guess what my feelings are....

    I remember when that happened

I too remember this.  I can't believe they're getting a second chance, I will be PMing, you sign that petition!  That's just plain ridiculous.

I wonder how the Australia people feel about having those Monsters in their country?

The English have done this for centuries.  Australia is where they sent all their prisoners.

Poor family, I couldn't imagine anything like this.  Did I read that right, that the mother didn't identify her son?  I'll have to reread that.  How devastating.

I don't know. I wonder too.   I saw it on CNN and I still can see those boys holding that little boys hand on the rail road tracks like it was yesterday.  I couldn't bring myself to read about it again.   My son was telling me that one day when school was off for the day he broke up a fight with a bunch of little kids in front of his shop.  It's kind of funny when he tells it but he was worried they were going to get hurt because they were throwing rocks.  Well, this little fat kid (his words, not mine) started yelling at him to mind his own and get the heck out of their business.  My son was shocked that the kid had a chocolate milk mustache and using the "F" word every other word.  They ended up calling the police because the rocks were getting to close to the trucks and guess how old the chocolate milk kid was????  8  My son is 20 and they didn't give a hoot about their elders or even the police for that matter.  I never let my kids go off on their own at 8!!!  Not even with there 12 year old brother.   Sorry, I got off track here.  It just scares me...Our younger kids are getting out of control.  Not all, but enough that we should be very concerned..
