since Sept. 20th i've been keeping Bo and Mattie.. and today they're finally no longer in my care. yeah i miss'em... but at the same time its a HUGE relief!!!
Mattie is so small and fast its been a night mare (i mean it literally gave me night mares) that she would escape and jump right into Kaydee's mouth... i woke up in the middle of the night after such a bad dream and went to check on her!!! the nightmares increased when she figured out how to escape out of her crate..... my husband leaves for work before i wake up in the morning. its dark when he leaves and like i said.. Mattie is fast and too small to notice!
Thank GOD nothing happened... came close a couple of times with my mom opening the door to the porch.. but at the time she had a dog in her yard so Mattie by-passed the bullies and charged the fence trying to pick a fight with my moms dog.... not saying thats a good thing, but it was certainly a lot safer than charging a bulldog behind the i-fence!!
i feel a little bummed at her being gone because she and Amber got along nicely. as it turned out - i was keeping them apart because they are both DA- they were bestest pals!! Mattie finally met a dog she LIKED! and likewise with Amber! the sad thing is i only found that out Friday... they were together for most of the weekend, just goofing off.
Before my cousin arrived to get them i took Bo for one last walk down the logging road and he had fun.. got to chase an armadillo.. sniffed at some deer tracks, jogged for a bit..
i sure hope it works out for them all! the neighbours where my cousins new house have two pit bulls and from the sounds of it pretty much just run around without a leash and outside of the fence. she says they're friendly, they go to the dog park etc. but .. i dunno.. it bugs me a little bit. She said the male pit jumped into the hatch of her car when she was unloading groceries. just sniffing around, being friendly but nosey.
She has a big enough back yard with a fence for Bo and Mattie, so they should be ok.... but she's going to be at work all day.. i really really REALLY wish she had waited until next weekend to get them.. like on a friday.. so she could spend the time getting them acclimated.. as it is she's going to have to leave them alone all day while she's at her job. i dont know if the kids get home before her or not, and as i said before.. they dont know how to walk a CHIHUAHUA, let alone a big ole bulldog..
ok i'm probably over-worrying... i'm one of those people that doesnt trust others to properly care for animals as well as i care for them.. i've been burned too many times by trusting people to know things that i consider common sense.. 1. dont tie a dog near a fence.... 2. dont tie a dog and leave it all alone.. 3. no cooked bones, not even beef.. 4. dont assume a dog is going to get along with EVERY dog.. it might get along with most dogs, but some dogs will start the fight and yours will probably defend itself.... 5. learn to read doggy body language to prevent or avoid aforementioned dog fights......
ok i have a mile long list.. you guys know what i'm talking about. we talk about it all the time here, right??
So i'm going to be biting my nails and worrying until she calls and lets me know they're doing alright...
but.. yay they're gone!! 
i'm gonna miss'em lol but not that much!
