Question for those who walk their dog each day

If it wasnt for my dogs i wouldnt get any exercise. I only enjoy going out with them as i see them enjoy it so much, and that makes it easy for me to do it.If they're happy,i'm happy.Taking them out for exercise doesnt feel like a chore, where as if it was just me it would be a real chore to get the motivation to get out.

Having a dog definitely makes a healthy difference for alot of people.I dont understand how people can have dogs and then not walk them.Cruel, cruel, cruel!Angry

I've never walked around my neighborhood until I got Harley. She gives me motivation, an excuse, and a reason to be walking out. Haha. I'm quite lazy without her. But now - we walk twice a day.

Just wanted to link to this thread http://forum.dog.com/forums/p/68084/530493.aspx#530493

Being a regular dog walker can be of benefit to your community as well as your own and your dog's health and welfare. I'd encourage everyone to get trained in first aid and CPR and if you have a cell phone, take it walking with you.

Oh yes. I have kids and we walk to school 5 days a week, lol. I don't drive and have never done so....I am a pedestrian in the truest sense of the word...I've walked most places I need to get to for most of my life. Now of course DH shuttles us all around...but I still walk...we've always picked houses with the nessecities within walking distance for that reason.

When i first got married and before we had a dog i would go for walks but it was never as much fun... but quite cute because my cat would trot along beside me on walks.. that was always an attention getter Big Smile

Once we got a couple of dogs, however, i felt a little more bold to walk down different roads as opposed to sticking to my horse shoe road.

when i was a kid visiting my grandparents during the holidays i would borrow their dogs to take on walks down the logging road...MUCH more fun than going alone!! and yes i did stay gone a lot longer with the dogs because i would follow them while they sniffed through side trails.. we would also eat black berries along the way (yeah they ate them too lol) and we would follow animal tracks..

I'm a nature person so dog or no dog, you'll always find me in the woods.. but i'll always have more fun with a dog around than without!
