Would DHPP vaccine cause illness a week later?

Millie went to the vet last week and was given the DHPP, even though my mom questioned it. I don't think they really told her what she was getting either, because she thought it was just the parainfluenza vaccine. Last night she was vomitting, and had diarrhea, and today she's refusing to eat. She wouldn't eat her food this morning or tonight, I tried yogurt, Old Mother Hubbard Charcoal bones, Banana Water Ice, and a liver treat. She refused it all and let Max eat it right in front of her. Usually if she won't eat something, she never lets him have it. If he tries to steal it that usually gets her to eat. She also allowed me to cut her nails. I decided to try it, because I knew it would tell me if she was really feeling bad. Last time I tried to cut her nails she tried to bite me. Today she just let me do it. That has me more worried than the not eating. Is it possible this is from the vaccine, or would it have to be something else?

If she still has vomiting and the runs tonight I would call the vet in the a.m. to have her checked out. Yes - it is possible to contract an illness from a vaccine but normally it will be a milder version of it. Dehydration is what concerns me the most.

Healing vibes being sent that this is just a badly timed "one of those things" and it passes uneventfully.

She is drinking, so we're not too concerned about dehydration, at least not yet. She's still refusing food, but I tried to dremel her nails, first she gave me a struggle, then she got up and walked away. I was happy with that, she will at least fight the one she really hates, because if she didn't put up a fight on that, I would have been very, very scared.

You can get a reaction any time afterward ... if it's a strict "allergic" reaction that's usually right away. You wouldn't typically get a "got this disease from the vaccine for it" type of reaction from a killed vaccine (which the combo shot is a killed vaccine).

BUT you can get something called "vaccinosis" from it. That's literally a toxic type reaction -- you might want to Google "vaccinosis dog" and see what you get.

most vaccine reactions occur within 48 hours of the shot. Is the site painful, swollen, hot? if not, probably is some other disease your dog just happened to get. Possibly from the vet's office. Lots of sick dogs do go to vet's offices and leave germs behind. The timing fits with a disease picked up at the office.
