Is anyone good at making bows for wreaths?

I stink at it and could use some pointers for the 6 new wreaths which came in today.  They never seem to fan out as pretty as the premade bows.  And how much ribbon to make a nice sized bow for a 30 inch wreath.  Do you like the wired ribbon or plain?

I learned how to make bows back in high school when I worked at a craft store, but I don't think I can explain it without showing you how to do it.  :( sorry

But, I do know how to make a straight bow, like a shoelace bow or a girl's dress bow.  Cross the laces like you would normally.  While you are holding the first bow, bring the second lace behind the bow rather than in front of it, lace through the hole and out comes the other bunny ear.  You will have a straight bow rather than propellers.  :)

I'm not too bad at it, but I have noticed in the craft stores that they seem to use the ribbons with the wire.  It may be easier to shape the bow to look the way you want it to.  Are the wreaths real evergreen or fake?  If they are fake, give them some time after you've spread it out a little to reshape, then you can use the ribbon, etc. to cover up any of the goofed up sections, if they never quite look right.  Good Luck!

They are very real looking fake ones...I'm not into buying the same thing year after year.  Thanks for the info and links.  Guess I'll give it one more shot!

Well, I went to Michael's for ribbon and came home with an EZ Bow Maker.  I made one, and it resembles a bow, at least.  I'm sure I'll get better at it.  It makes it easier to get the loops the same length, at any rate!
