How do you know when your dog hasn't had enough exercise?

Misha likes to run around the den (he's usually outside, so I chase him around there) and then turn a flip trying to grab his tail. He's usually up against the couch, and then the crawls toward you. Of course... now that he's on the floor and squished up against the couch, he's perfectly fine to stay right there and sleep. He's not too demanding on exercise, but he does pace - then again, so do I.

Charlie will start barking at anything he sees outside or will start to chew anything he sees inside.

My Rory (I was excited to see another girl dog named Rory!!!!) starts digging the couch and/or she gets really mouthy when she needs to get some exercise.  She also will bring us toys but the couch digging is the big tip off.  Yeah, gotta work on that one!

Maverick gives the the "woof, woof"--that's my clue, I'm bored!!  Skylar throws his toys on my laptop!!!  Oscar steals things off the table or goes inour bedroom and raids the change jar and brings me money!!  When the weather is bad and we can't get them out for sufficient Frisbee time---OH MY!!!  It's the family romp in the living room!!!!  They are very laid back when we can play Frisbee----it's hard only during rain or a day like today where the wind knocks you over!!!!

When he gets the idea that you might be possibly thinking about maybe going for a walk though, he starts with his wookie noises and you just can't get leashed up and out the door fast enough for him.

Wookie noises! That's so Cherokee! I call her Chewbacca all the time.

She also grabs whatever's laying around and throws it all over the place. If she's only a little bored she finds a shoe, kid toy, shirt...something like that, but if she seeks out and starts playing with a DOG TOY, I feel very neglectful, because I know that means she's reeeeeeeeeally bored. Big Smile

I knew I recognized her face, but I could not for the life of me remember her name. What was your old user name? Welcome back!

Sheprano! I was wondering what happened to you!

Emma is usually ok with not enough exersize. If it's been raining and totally nasty, or I've been sick, or *she's* been sick, and she really hasn't been out in a week or something, she rearranges the furniture.

Teenie says "Walk? WHY? My mom will carry me."

    • Gold Top Dog

NO WAY, that was my name, ha ha! I forgot, I wonder if I can still log in? I kinda like my new name but yup thats ME!!! LOL! Wow you've got some memory

Dess comes as sits beside your chair and vigorously wags his tail until you attend.  If you dont pay attention, he paws you, once.  Then after a delay, again with a bit more force to it.

Nora who entertains herself with throwing toys etc as normal behavior, leaps into your lap from a minimum distance of 6 feet.  When exercised, she waits for an invitation.  She will also run up the stairs and start throwing her toys down the stairs so she can chase them.

Misty will drive you absolutely NUTS!  She'll follow you everywhere, get into things she's not supposed to, chase the cat, bite at you-wanting to play, keeps going to the door every 5 min.!  Not today though, I took her to the park to play frisbee, but she really didn't get into it -- to many new smells, we walked and ran for over 45 mins.  When we got home she took a nap, and so did I.

Mine just wont settle,or they sit staring out the front door or window which totally breaks my heart, this always gets me up and out no matter what time of night it  is.I've missed out a morning walk before, but never a whole day,i dread to think how they would react to thatIndifferent What is really annoying is when you get home from a walk and they still want to play!I like to see mine crashed out completely worn out after a walk

Willow will start out with a stare and a tail wag when I look her way.  If that doesn't work, she'll come over and paw at me.  If that doesn't work she growls!

Bugsy will certainly let you know its walk time or that he needs something to do.  In the morning for walk time he becomes completely velcro, staring at me in the down/play stance, watching every movement waiting for me to go upstairs and get into walking clothes.  If I go to computer first he pushes at me, puts his head on the keyboard or desk nudging nonstop.  Should he dare leave my side he goes and finds things to bring me; magazines are first, then a shoe or sock, continuing to remotes which he sees as WAY up the priority scale.  It is much easier to walk him than to endure his onslaught Stick out tongue

For a general need to do something he will do the mischief thing, bringing us whatever he can find and upping the ante as appropriate.  He will fling kongs at us if we left one out or bring us his sacred red rubber bones.  He will try and steal paper from our desks etc.

He excels at driving you nuts and is as always completely silent but amazingly effective
