    Mindless chatter - Sunday

Sunday - I'm so glad that I have an extra day off :)

I was having a really nice day yesterday until Dakota's face started to swell up. I don't know if anyone read that thread but I had to make yet another trip to the vets last night. That's 2x yesterday! Thankfully I have a really good vet and he gave her a couple of shots which made her sleep all night (first great nights sleep I've had in a while) and got the swelling to go down. He only charged me $40 too for the emergency call and all the meds. She is a little more lively this morning but still not really eating. I have to get this nasty tasting antibiotics down her too. This is going to be tough since she doesn't even want treats.

The kitty is feeling better though. He was rip roaring around the house last night creating all kinds of havoc. I was waiting to hear my xmas tree go crashing down lol

I have plans today to meet a friend take our aussies for a hike.

Then I will get that basement cleaned up as well as the garage (ha! I've been saying that all weekend ;p )

I got some decorations out on the front porch last night and the porch looks fantastic ... however, open the front door and you step into total chaos.  I really need to get the tree finished and all the empty boxes shoved back in the closet.  I'm not going to use the flasher on the lights because Max is just a bit too fascinated with flashing lights. If they're steady, he'll look at them and at whatever reflects on the ceiling, but he won't try to "catch" them.

I worked my rear off yesterday with cleaning and then decorating, but everything looks great and I'm glad to have today to just relax. It's cold and dreary outside, so I think it's going to be a good day for a nap Smile.

I hadn't seen the post about Dakota yesterday but I'm sure glad he's okay. This has been a crazy time for you and your crew. I hope you've seen the last of any problems for awhile.

     My first mindless chatter post!

Jewliee- I'm sorry to hear about Dakota's issues I hope she's feeling better soon!

It'svery quiet here- Basil's at work with SO, and Pocket's been dropped off at the vets for an X-ray.  She had an appointment yesterday (that went horribly) for a rash she'd developed- bacterial dermatitis. So she's got antibiotics and some horrible blue cream that I have to give her twice daily. I asked the vet to give her a once-over to check she'll be okay to start agility next year, and now she's getting an X-ray to check her front leg. I'm dreading the vet bill! But even worse, I certainly am not in Pocket's good books- 2 vet visits in 2 days and horrible pills and creams. No wonder she's been running away from me! Sad . I'm thinking about changing vets- Pocket really doesn't like this clinic, and the vets/techs don't really do much to make her (or me) feel better, and I feel like they're constantly trying to squeeze more money out of my already very thin wallet.

I'm meant to be writing up an experiment for my dissertation this morning, but am in a sour mood from all the vet stuff. I'm volunteering at the dog rescue this afternoon so hopefully that'll cheer me up. One thing that I AM looking forward to is me and SO are going on a CRUISE in just over a week- can't wait!

The beginning of the day started out well, as I woke up naturally 30 minutes before the alarm.  I got to take a leisurely shower, eat breakfast, and all that good stuff before heading to work.

Ah, but that's where the story gets less happy.  Customers today were vicious at work, returning tons of items, wanting free merchandise, complaining that we had no Black Friday supermodel totes left, blowing me off because I had the gall to tell them that we were only running 75% of our registers that day (yes, the world is coming to an end!), etc.  I even had one woman return $200 of merchandise, only to complain and (call ME rude) that we didn't have any free bags left and her coupon for them had already expired!  Argh...it was crazy.

So my moral of the story is please be nice to people who work in retail!  Wink

The night is going much better.  DH made pizza, and it tastes delicious.  And I'm off tomorrow, yay!

Today was interesting. I took Spirit to the dog park and it was going really well for about 45 minutes. Then two dogs approached Spirit, one was a beagle, the other was I don't know. I'm not sure what the doggie language that was going on there, I didn't really see much to go on, but Spirit couldn't handle it. She started snapping and the two dogs and making that "i've been bitten" sound even though she wasn't touched. She was trying to get under my legs. Of course then those dogs wouldn't leave. So this went on for a few minutes. Other dogs would come by and she was fine, but these two she wouldn't allow anywhere near her without making all the fear behavior.  My big question was...where was the owner of these dogs? Who knows, nobody stepped in to call their dog off. I got pretty pissed off that nobody was watching (or caring?) what was going on here.

At that point I made a rather loud comment, something to the effect "this is bull****". I put Spirit on her leash and we left.  Not happy with my first dog park experience.

Anyway, interesting and annoying. I know Spirit has had some nervous issues in the past, although it's been with inanimate objects not dogs or people. Disappointing!

Yes this is dog related, sorry. It's also mindless so hopefully that counts for something.

Oh, yeah.. one other thing. We saw another corgi there. The owner said she was the second owner and that it used to be 'show quality'. Well it's pretty old now, but the thing is.. it must have weighed 40 or more pounds. Show quality? Maybe before you got it, lady. It was so sad. It was a cranky old dog too.  I took a picture of it.. i'll try to post it tomorrow.

    My first Mindless chatter!!!

Well.. I went from the bed to the couch after walking Maze this morning and threw on a video game. Maze curled up at my feet and we didn't move til her dinner time!  Sundays in my house are lazy days so all the pets sleep and usually I have to drag Maze out just so she can go pee.

I always THINK Sundays are going to be lazy.  They NEVER are. I went to the shelter, ran to Rite Aid and Safeway, came home, walked Gypsy, wrapped the pipes outside, did some MORE laundry, boned the turkey, took Gypsy on a play date, emptied the dishwasher TWICE and collapsed at about 5 p.m. and napped for about half an hour.  I then got up,had dinner and watched "Some Like it Hot" (DS#2's request!) and sent everyone to bed.
