    Mindless Chatter - Sat

Ohhhh this weekend off work is going by way too fast! Yesterday flew by. Not good!

I still have lots of things on my list of things to do. First up - laundry.

Poor Dakota is not feeling well at all. She won't eat anything - except for a few bites of turkey. What dog can refuse thanksgiving turkey? I can tell that she's getting a little dehydrated. Makes me wonder what is going on. Maybe she has the bug Neiko had and just needs some antibiotics.

So, did anyone do black friday shopping?

Weekend? How about the whole year?

Nice and chilly this morning. Accidently fell asleep on the couch and woke up about 4:30 a.m. so I just decided to stay up.

Leftovers are about done for. We'll get a good walk in today. The colder it is, the more endurance Shadow has. I need to change the oil and filter in my truck and check the tranny fluid.

Yeah, how come my days off fly by and the work days are 16 hours?

No black friday shopping here.  I hate malls, and do most of my shopping locally and online.  But, yesterday we had a second dinner down at my cousin's house and hung out with friends and family.  We drove by a couple of malls.  Just the length of the walk from the only available parking spaces would have given me my exercise for the week LOL.

Well yesturday I was in clean the house mode, I even steam cleaned both rugs. Last act of the day was to put up the christmas tree.

So today I am on my way out to go and pay my employers credit card since he is in Florida, then it is off to the library for some books, then home to decorate the tree. No shopping here either, 20 years in retail turned me off stores for the holidays.

TOday my boyfriend and I are going with our real estate agent to look at condos.  From the pictures this one building looks so nice.  And they are affordable for us.  I will probably be called in to the office today to work, as the spot audit is coming up very fast.  One of the things of the past few days that has been dragging me down is finally ceasing.  And I spoke to the Crown about the review board meeting, and he decided he will apply to the review board to see if i can speak to them without you know who in the room.  He assures me they will consent to it because of the circumstances.  I just know I will need help writing this impact statement.  I always find it so difficult to put my thoughts and emotions to words.  gah.

I hope Dakota feels better!!!  And I hope everyone has productive days!

We've got some sleet coming down, here. It's not supposed to stick because it's not supposed to get below freezing. But today's temps are supposed to range between 36 and 40 F.

I did all the chores yesterday before my friend came over (cleaned bathroom, cleaned kitchen, did dishes, vacuumed entire house, 3 loads of laundry, cleaned litter boxes, took trash out, checked yard for poop) so today is MINE!  It's DH's birthday and apparently I'm supposed to plan something....

     Feel better Dakota!

And Black Friday came to me...I work at Victoria's Secret, so yesterday was INSANE.  I swear it, it felt like I met all of Chicagoland yesterday!  After that, I didn't have any energy to do any shopping for myself.

Now I'm heading over to DH's aunt's house for some family time.  They have a cocker named Buddy who thinks Honor is the source of evil, but hopefully all of her puppy classes have taught her how to be nice to him!

I slept in front of Game Stop Friday morning and got a Wii which is now on Ebay. That was the extent of my black friday shopping.

I've worked with the boy I was with this morning for a little over two years. He has epilepsy, but in that length of time, he has never had a seizure, when I have been there or otherwise. I'm not sure what's up, but in the course of a few minutes, he had a few. His eyes just roll back a little, but nonetheless, it's scary.

DW works in retail, too. Yesterday, she opened and was off work a little after 6. Today, she works 3 p.m. to close. The store closes at 10 but it might be 11 before they get out of there. OTOH, we got our walk in, I had to go out to the store a second time since I couldn't remember to get everything the first time. I like cold, blustery days because I can take Shadow with me and not worry about heat build-up while leaving him in the truck to get stuff. And even then, I am in the habit of getting exactly what I need and I'm in and out in a few minutes. But when it's 35 F outside with clouds, rain, and sleet, and both windows open slightly, Shadow is still just fine.

I want TURKEY!  Whats Black Friday?

    • Gold Top Dog

Black Friday is what retailers call the day after Thanksgiving.  It is the busiest shopping day of the year & generally It signifies the day that their companies go from "in the red" to "in the black."

I flew back a day early.  I traded flights with a friend who really wanted to stay a little longer.  I didn't get checked at customs, which was GREAT, because I did some major shopping while in Mexico.  The dogs were really excited to see me.  I was just as happy to see them.  BF is coming back from Boston tonight, & I can't wait to see him.  I missed him a lot more than I had expected.  I'm hoping for a lazy day tomorrow, before going back to work on Monday.

Julie, I hope that Dakota's feeling better.  Your guys have had a terrible run, as of late.  Hope that the dogs & cat's health issues subside really quickly.

No Black Friday shopping here, either.  But on the news Thursday night they were interviewing a woman who had her whole family in tow and their Thanksgiving dinner in a picnic basket, and they were camped out in front of one of the outlet stores waiting for it to open at 4 a.m. When the interviewer asked her what was at the top of her shopping list, she said "a new purse." I can't begin to imagine what kind of purse would have someone camped out in front of a store on a freezing night, but I wish I could have told her she could get a great purse at Wal-Mart for about $10/$12. Smile

DH and I went on our monthly big grocery shopping trip.  We also had lunch out at a local burger joint that makes great burgers! I also did laundry, laundry, laundry, changed the sheets, bathed Gypsy and, oh, did I mention LAUNDRY?

As for malls (or M-A-U-L-S, as I like to call them!)? NO WAY. One of my girlfriends and I have a standing date for every Thanksgiving Eve.  We go get a sandwich and then to the dollar store for stocking stuffers. I HATE malls with a passion.  IMHO, nothing killed the small downtown areas faster.
