This person is a little nutty....

Okay - I thought I'd share this and ask your opinion.  This is this one individual who has made a few snide remarks about our dogs being up on the couch.  Now, I admit our dogs aren't the best behaved dogs but they are sweet.  Anyway, the last time I saw this individual, she was showing us picture of her "perfect little angel" up on the couch with her.  I pointed out to her that her dog apparently likes being up on the couch, too.  She gave a huffy reply saying that her angel just wanted to be next to her.  Well, duh......  One of the main reasons our dogs get up on the couch is to hang with us and be a part of the family.  Granted, my boys do linger but I keep them clean so it's really not a problem to me.

Seems as though someone here is being a little hypocritical, don't you think?  Then she goes on to brag about taking her dog to the salon and having her dog's nails painted.  Excuse me?  Now - don't get me wrong - I'm all for getting our furry kids shiny and pretty.  I think the nail painting is a little over the top and out of touch CONSIDERING that this is a big dog that romps around the woods, is active and is NOT a show dog.  If this were a tiny lap dog and sat on a pillow all day or something, this wouldn't seem out of whack to me.  There are several other things wrong with this person, but I'm not going to waste everyone's time with that (well, at least this is enough for today [;)]).

Once we have our human kids I can only imagine what a pain in the *** this person is going to be.  Not looking forward to it.    Thanks for letting me vent.  I'm new to this board and have enjoyed reading your posts - particularly about the one with 14+ kids.  It was enlightening.  Maybe I should start watching that show since we are planning on adopting.  Might be educational.

    Talk to ya'll later!

I am assuming this person is related to you by marriage.
I also think it is a little over the top when you paint a dogs toe nails no matter what size in my opinion. To each their own.
I would not worry about what this person says about your fur kids being on the couch and would let them know that right off the bat.
I had and have set my In Laws straight about my fur kids. They went as far to tell me I needed to get rid of them or I would not have a husband. I replied calmly and before I even thought about it, I guess I wont have a husband then..... The cheek.
I also advised them they do not feed, medicate or take responsiblity for any of my fur kids and therefor it is NO problem to me or my family and they needed to get over it and on with it.

This is the way I feel. It's your house and your dogs. If you want your dogs on the couches, that's your business. If she doesn't like it, tell her not to come over then. And what's wrong with painted nails?! [:D]

Hey, nice nails, meilani!  Very artistic.  Didn't mean to offend.  Brought up the point about the nails because she mentioned it in a haughty tone that we should be so envious. Seemed a little inappropriate at the time given the situation is all (even my husband cringed when he talked about it in private)- and she's not a tolerant person.  It's just that her dog and our dogs are scruffers and it doesn't make sense for the added artwork.  Like the pic of your dogs!

Nah, I wasn't offended. I was just playin. I know what you're talking about. I can't stand people who act like their shite doesn't stink. [:)]

WOW I needed sunglasses for those bright nails. Nice job. Like I said earlier to each their own. Not my bag of tea to paint nails on any critter including myself.

I agree, your dogs, your home. And would tell her that, exactly like that. End of story.

Hey, your couch - your dog.  You can't discriminate on the basis of size.[:D] My dog is on the couch whether or not anyone else is there.  I think it's so nice of him to let us sit there with him. Tell this person that you purchased the couch for the dog with the understanding that you could use it also, and your dog agreed.

Wow thats some bling on those nails!!! [:D]

I don't know what advice to give that hasn't already been given. I am just sorry you have to deal with someone so critical of you and your house rules! Hope things get better.

Just tell her if her butt is too big to fit on the couch, to ask the dog to slide on over a bit! hahaha[:D]

You know what, we've had a few friends who didn't want to come over after Willow came even though she's not around when company is over.  The heck with them!

I personally do not let our dogs on the furniture although that is my choice and I have my reasons but I do allow them on the beds with us to sleep. Some people say I'm crazy for that but ya know what this is my house and I decide what the house rules are and not other family or friends. If they don't like it tell them to Go $%^#$@# Off.

I agree with everyone.  Your house, your rules.  Tell her to butt out.  I've lost a few visitors to my house because of my boys.  No biggie.

Ooooo MEilani! Bennett and I are stealing your flag idea!! He is entered in a companion animal show in July I'm making him a firework collar and I'm gonna paint his nails in little flags! We've been working on this lately and he'll let me paint two full feet with clear polish before he gets even a teeny bit antsy! [:)

I have 3 goldens,  They are notorius for shedding.  They stay in the house and they do get on furniture.  And if people do not like my dogs, do not like that they are allowed on furniture, they those people need never come to my house and i will not miss them one iota.  My three brothers and families come often and stay the weekend, etc.  HOWEVER they all have dogs that stay in the house, and two  have cats that also stay in the house.  They feel right at home here.
