took an early morning urine sample in shortly after freezing myself getting it!!!
Keep in mind I have been big time limiting Molly's water consumption. I give her water but she doesn't have free access to a bowl full. I'm trying to rule out obsessive behavior. One would think if one's bladder isn't full of fluids there would be no leakage. So all evening I diligently measured amounts of water, kept track of how often, how much she was peeing. No water after 9:30pm, up at 6:30am. She was still wet - entire leg and thigh area - and she still peed like a racehorse.
Her urine counts were right on target for a dog her age.
Next step - I have to dehydrate her and Friday afternoon (she has to go w/out water for 24 hours - this is going to kill me) the vet will take a sample along with a blood sample and rule out any kidney disorders. But she has to be dehydrated to make sure her kidneys are functioning properly. He doesn't like doing this in a dog so young but since her urine levels show no infections, no signs of crystals he's virtually at a loss. He's going to be doing his homework between time.
He said the confusing part is simply her age...she's too young to be showing any signs of older dog diseases, unless it's simply incontinence in which case they'll give her hormones but they want to rule out kidney issues first. I agree cause otherwise they are simply treating the symptoms without knowing the real cause.
