I am exacting my revenge upon my neighbors

    • Bronze

Bonita, those were excellent suggestions - and they target the ones who are the real problem, the neighbors, not their dogs. If one must have  'revenge' they should take it out on the ones who are the actual problem, IMO. I'm kind of surprised that people who profess to love dogs would want to do anything that could potentially be harmful to a dog, or even do something nasty to a dog...and surprised at those who seem to sluff off doing this to dogs because they're 'just dogs'. Do some people who love dogs only love their own? Dogs aren't human; they don't know they're doing anything wrong, it's their owners who are at fault for allowing them to poop in someone else's yard and who haven't trained them to be good neighbor dogs. If fines and such haven't worked before, then embarrassing the neighbors sounds like an excellent idea, and no harm or nastiness is done to animals who simply haven't been trained better.

But again, HOW is eating a cat turd "harmful" to a dog? Aside from maybe the risk of intestinal worms, which most people deworm against on a regular basis?

The dogs aren't "suffering," all the know is that they're getting a delicious snack! It's the OWNERS who think it's gross and have to deal with the results- the dogs are having a great time.

I just can't believe that some people think that dogs eating the occasional bit of cat poop is horrifying, dangerous, and disgusting. Do your dogs never go OUTSIDE?? Do they ever get to act like DOGS?? Dogs love gross things...and it isn't dangerous, just because humans consider it gross!

The possibility of choking on a cat turd? Oh come on. They're infinitely more likely to choke on kibble.

I'd hate to be the dog of someone who was that anal retentive and paranoid. Dogs like to run around and get into stinky things, and it's perfectly normal and healthy- it's only gross and problematic for the people who have to bathe them and clean up the aftermath.

     Admin note...

This thread was lighthearted in intent...the least we can do is keep it civil, yes?

    Thank you.

I love animals, especially dogs.....I take in dogs, rescue dogs......but, after having to deal with a menace for many months on my end ,I reached my limit....after cleaning up trash and rearranging my pond, replacing solar lights, pump accessories, and other items for the umtheenth time....I reached my boiling point.

Again...they're not fuzzy little people, they're DOGS. My dogs have eaten far worse than cat poop and they're not sick or dead yet. As long as they're UTD on vaccines, and regularly wormed, it's fine. My dogs are all healthy, shiny, and happy.

AMEN!!  I agree with your whole post!!!!!  I think some people have gone WAY overboard on worrying about if cat poo is going to harm the dog!!!

It's cat poop, not nuclear waste.  If eating cat poop could kill a dog both Sally and Jack would have died many, many, many times over again.  Sally enjoys cat and horse poop (the runnier the better), and Jack eats cat poop, Sally poop (but that's the only dog poop he will eat strangely enough), horse poop, deer poop, goose poop, and any other various poop he comes across.  I wonder why they have not yet dropped dead of all this poop consumption.

The only flaw I see in this plan is that the dogs would want to come to the yard ever more than they do now.  I know that would keep my dogs coming back ("WOOO-HOOO--later mom--we're goin' to the poop house!!!!!";)........

I'm not trying to start anything; I'm simple giving my own opinion, which no one else has to agree with. While cat poop may not be harmful to a dog per se, there have been dogs that have choked on it and died, or had the litter that's stuck to it or mixed in with it cause intestinal problems, up to and including death. Besides the fact that these dogs may not even bother touching the poop to begin with (negating any 'revenge';) my opinion is that they're not the ones who should be targeted, the neighbors are...and Bonita had some excellent ideas about how to do that and with guaranteed results. Also, IMO only, I don't condone doing anything that could be harmful or nasty to an animal under any circumstances, especially when the neighbors are the ones who are the problem. Again, I'm only giving my opinion just as the rest on here have; simply because it's not agreeing with the majority opinion on here is no reason to take it personally (as it wasn't meant that way at all). Any time one posts in a public forum they're going to get some who agree with their own opinion and some who don't ;)

Likewise, if you are going to give your opinions of others actions, then expect people to share their own opinions of your opinions.Wink

So just out of curiosity, if another dog was trying to attack one of yours, would you physically harm said do to get it away?

    • Gold Top Dog

just curious but have you thought of putting up a hot wire? the land lady that used to keep horse crap in her flower beds put an electric wire in her yard (she had a chain link fence around her house for her own two dogs - and to keep them out of the yucky stuff she hot wired around the beds.... always irked me that she didnt want HER dogs poop surfing and coming inside with their snacks, but she never strung up the wire around the beds on the outside of her fence.. where my dog had access.... then again maybe she was exacting revenge on me for some reason lol

ETA... wanted to say i didnt want it to sound like you should them out of the litter box dump sight, i just meant as a form of keeping them out of your yard totally. you have a right to do that with your own property. if these people dont want to hear their dogs yipe or smell burnt fur then they'll make sure to keep them out of the hot zone. it will have faster results than kitty bombs.

Interesting question ;) No, I wouldn't harm the other dog; most dogs attacks aren't done to kill the other animal and there are any number of ways to get dogs who are fighting to stop without resorting to violence against the animal. Prevention is one important way and should be the first one used. Only if an animal were attempting to kill my dog or a attacking a child and I couldn't get them away from them quickly would I resort to more extreme measures (which I would also do if a *person* was attacking a child or another loved one)...But as a responsible dog owner of many years, I do my best to prevent situations like this from occurring in the first place, and after 40+ years of owning dogs I haven't had a problem with them fighting other dogs or attacking children *ever*.

I am the proud owner of 4 min pins, what a lot of people call yappers.  I am extra careful not to let them get away with anything that I wouldn't let a bid dog get away with.  As for eating the cat poop, well if it were lethal all four of my yappers should be goners.  They have all bellied up to the buffett before.  As for revenge, it sounds like these neighbors of yours simply don't care.  They are not neighborly, and have no idea what it means to be so.  It is just a fact that some people are ***holes.

I'm afraid if you let your dog run after the yappers, even leashed, these neighbors may decide to come after you for having an "aggressive" dog.  It seems to me that passive aggressive revenge is what is needed here.  Cat poop, great idea!  and if people see you putting it in your yard and judge you for it, well let them, they would probably do the same thing.  Electric wire, love that idea too.  Go get 'em!!

Best reason NOT to dump the cat poop - though I find it disgusting and amusing.  Ivan had a love of kitty crunchies *shudder*.

The availability of kitty delights will probably thrill the little terrors, giving you a bigger problem.

I love Bonita's idea, but if these neighbors are really as callous as described I don't think they'll mind the nicely wrapped poop.  They aren't going to care until something inconveniences them.  I think an artful display of returned poop on the porch might make more of an impact. Devil  Maybe right where they are likely to step?

That is only a decent idea if you're willing to piss them off and risk an arms race. (Poop race?)

personally i like THIS idea - http://youtube.com/watch?v=GF_IgXt_KJc - watch it until you see the dog... then you get the idea i'm talking about.

I hope it doesn't come to that....who wants to sling crap with the neighbors....lol

some good ideas here.....the cat pooh hasn't been touched BTW. These people don't have cats so it's quite possible the dogs haven't developed the taste of said delicacy LOL

I only put a day's worth of pooh in the bushes (not the front yard - it's the side yard in the back and after that it's only wood and as Glenda said from them thar woods comes bears).

I did try those sonic sound things once - didn't work. and yes I have talking to their dogs' owners. Might as well as had the conversation with my mirror.
