CA fires

Cathy, I don't understand that particular mindset either.  It's sort of like building a home on an earthquake fault.  The people that didn't lose their homes in the fires will lose them when they slide down the hills during the first good rain, yet they'll turn around and re-build on the very same spot. Me?  I'd get as far away from the hills and chaparral as I could. On the other hand, I never got earthquake insurance because the deductable in CA is $45K. Crying Hopefully that fault that runs along the base of the hills in Winters will stay quiet for a looooong time.

Just wanted to say I've been following the news and sending out prayers and good vibes to all you guys in CA -- and to your friends & family. Cathy... there are a few people here with very nice homes that can't afford the insurance because they built the home too far away from the local fire deptartments. So they just don't buy it and hope for the best. Like you tho, I couldn't imagine it.

Joyce.. hugs to your family down here in Jamul.  Hope their home is OK.

Thanks,  Shelly.  As of today they still don't know.  Jamul is still burning so they haven't been able to get back to check.  Fire is a weird thing, though.  A lot of times you'll find a quite a few houses gone and just random ones in between untouched. Right now they're at my other sisters house in Chula Vista, who BTW, found out that their cabin in Arrowhead is OK. Smile
