CA fires

Sending good thoughts for all of you down there. I grew up in Ventura County, so the fires this time of year seemed like a common thing, but it's frightening and sad to see it now that I understand the devastation. They sent strike crews from up here to help out and it sounds like they're going to need them. I hope the winds die down today and they can get a handle on things.

These fires are something crazy and scary.

I heard the winds wont die down until tomorrow. I hope the weatherpeople are wrong about that one - being that the santa ana winds are so unpredictable... I just hope it goes away now.

wow...tornados don't look so bad all the sudden. Good luck to all in the area and here's to hoping for rain...we have plenty today!

Thanks, everyone. In my particular city things seem to be looking up this morning - they have the fire about 30% contained, and were able to stop it juuuuust before it reached a whole bunch of houses. The sky is still dark, dark gray with soot and ash but at least the fire doesn't seem to be spreading anymore.

The worst thing is they discovered that this fire was set by arsonists...!

What sick person does something like that?  I just don't understand it but I hope they catch whoever it was.

  We are only a couple days away from the anniversary of the big fires we had a few years back that  went through the same areas.

Shelly, is that the one that burned for about 10 days or more and went so far south that it jumped the border into Tijuana?

I remember one of my first summers in Texas, y'all had some HUGE fires that went to Mexico maybe (same ones Joyce?)? They darkened OUR skies...it was incredible to think about how far away those fires were and yet N Texas was affected.

So many prayers for everyone being affected by the fires.  I just can't BELIEVE that someone SET one of the fires!!!!!!  That just makes me ill that someone would be so evil to do that.

That is sad, isn't it? One of the most horrific fire we had up in this neck of the woods was started by someone lighting an illegal campfire. At the time it was dry and windy and there were signs posted all over that area telling people NOT to light fires. To deliberately ignore those signs IMO is the same as arson.

I was watching the noon news on TV at the gym and it looks worse than I imagined. They had one of Sacramento's fire chiefs on and he said he'd never seen anything like it.  One of our staff that lives in Valencia had to evacuate this morning. She, her husband and her 2 dogs have gone to stay with friends. She's newly pregnant after a very long time of trying, so I hope they stay safe.

Just reading this and letting you know we're praying for you. It's sounds very scary.

Quick update.  We have 7 separate fires here, I have coworkers who have lost their homes and a bunch evacuated, over 250,000 people in San Diego have been under mandatory evacuated, almost 40,000 people are without power and now my greyhound rescue has to evacuate so we are waiting for a dog to stay with us for a day or two.  Lord I hope we don’t have to evacuate; especially now with an extra dog that likely will not be cat tolerant and must be crated.
