"That" pedigree commercial

    "That" pedigree commercial

I've seen a few posts mention this, but I've never seen it so I don't know what you're all on about!  Is it moving, sad, funny, cute or what?  Help I am confused!  And curious!

It's really a great commercial.  It shows an asssortment of sad little puppers looking out from cages in the shelter and a voice is saying  (this is not exact) "I can sit.  I can roll over.  I can shake.  What I want to know is how did I get here?  I know I'm a good dog.  I just want to go home." It really is a tear jerker.[X(] Then it basically goes on to say that for every  bag of Pedigree sold, the company will donate a certain percentage to helping shelter dogs find homes. Kinda makes you want to go out and load up on Pedigree and take it to the local shelter just to  help the cause. [:)]

Yup that's the one....I can't watch it anymore.

a person could always buy Pedigreed and donate to a shelter!!! That way it helps animals both ways - through the company and by donating food to the shelter rather than buy it for one's own dog.
The commercial puts a lump in my throat too

Thanks!  The sight of those dogs in those cages is enough to make you want to go out and buy loads of Pedigree and drop it off at the local rescue shelter.  You'd have to have a heart of stone not to be moved by that one.  But they don't say how much per bag they are donating....  Ooooh smack me for being so cynical!!!!

That is the only commercial that I don't fast forward through if I'm watching something I've taped.

Here's some stats and it looks like the matching bags thing is a good deal for the shelters!

Don't flog me...years ago when I was breeding cockers, I fed Pedigree, exactly because the company even back then donated to the shelters.  I didn't know then what I do now......

Which is......?  Is there something I don't know about this brand?

That's it's not the highest echelon of quality of course...lol!
I think some people here like the canned/puppy formula...

I think it might be nice if TO or Innova donated like this but I doubt they are big enough to do so without going bankrupt. I think it's something only a really big company can do...and they SHOULD do it. Pedigree ain't the best...but IMO I think what they're doing for raising awarenessof shelter dogs and their value, is admirable.

What Gina said.....she's faster than I am today. [:D]

I notice that the slogan is no longer "Top breeders recommend it".  Is that because quality declined over the years, or because better foods became available which top breeders preferred?  Or did they just suddenly start outlawing lying in ads!!!  [:D][:D][:D][:D][:D]

Their focus has changed a bit lately.
They used to be very big with the shows and purebred dog thing. They still do that but the focus has shifted to shelters and mxied breed dogs etc.

Perhaps that is due to Eukanuba's ads focusing on purebreds...or just an untapped market they felt they could win over by making them included. It's a business after all...they have people who's only job is to tell them where to focus to keep in the black. Just like any other successful company.

It is a bit weird, a dog food called "pedigree" being in support of mutts and shelter dogs....  Very obvious that the focua has shifted! [:D]
