Do your pet miss you when you are at work?

Do your pet miss you when you are at work?

According to my roommates, they miss me so much that they have develop a 6th sense with which they begin to get anxious and run around the house a few minutes before I arrive…They have told me that they can already tell when I am arriving…I don’t know…well…It figures I’m never home when they behave like that … I have seen some studies that say that this might be possible…what do you guys think…

I definitely agree with that theory. I know that I have witnessed our dogs getting anxious and restless around the time DH usually gets home on many occasions. Just based upon my experience alone, dogs are creatures of habit. They let me know if I'm a little late feeding them, taking them for their walk, etc. I think they get accustomed to keeping a schedule, which would explain the restlessness prior to you coming home, walking them, etc.

When my boyfriend had to go away for five weeks of job training, we were curious to see how Russell would respond since his loves his 'daddy' and would always get excited when he came home from a normal workday. Well, the five weeks went by with no abnormal behavior. I mean, I don't know what we were expecting exactly but he just went about his everyday doggie business. (And when he finally saw him again he appeared to be like, "oh hey you're back, so anyway about this potato chip....") The fact that he never seemed to be waiting for SO to come home may indicate that when he gets excited for my SO's usual homecoming, he's reacting to my behavior or perhaps can hear his car coming before I can see it.

I have no idea if he misses me during the day, I suspect NOT - since he knows the routine.  I do know that he is waiting at the door when I get home and is certainly thrilled to see me (I am the food dispenser after all).  I'm always home when I'm "supposed" to be though, so he's never had a chance to really  miss me.  DH otoh, has been gone a few times and Slick absolutely missed him.  He actually became very depressed, waiting by the front door for HOURS on end, crying for no apparent reason, moping around, sleeping on DH's pillow, etc.  It was obvious that he was pining away for him.

hard to say...I think Shenzi seems excited when I get home b/c she has to potty!  LOL  Although she does wag her tail very vigorously!  LOL  She does get really excited when DH comes home, though...he's rough and rambunctious with her, though.  I rarely play with her b/c I have so much other stuff to do.  I think she loves him more than me, although if we're in different rooms, she will often come and hang out with me...is that because I feed her??  lol

I don't know if they miss me but when I turn the corner onto my street my dogs start making an awful ruckus. They also know what a Harley sounds like because my son rides one. They get really excited but apparently they like the Harley better than my son. Once I took 2 of them on vacation with me. We were standing outside of a motel when a Harley pulled up. The dogs couldn't wait to get to the guy on the Harley.
