Glass Top Range

• Glass Top Range snownose Posted : 1/28/2007 1:13:14 PM Do any of you own one, and if so what do you use to clean it?   When we bought it, it came with a small bottle of cleaner, and that is what they recommend, I am just wondering if there is anything else out there that works as well. I hate mine btw and really wish I would have paid the 500.00 to get a gas line run to the stove. Mine gets hotter than an electric stove (no gas here either).   Yes, that's a plus, except we bought black and stainless steel, I just have to keep buffing and shining to keep it lookin new. When something gets stuck on there it becaomes part of the stove and nothing I use can take it off and then the down under junk is just nasty. She read the instructions and is afraid to use it, I never did and have had no problems and love it.   I too use Soft Scrub to clean my stove top. The Cooktop Cleaner provided with ours really seems to be more of a polish than a cleaner. I use that once every week or two when I think it needs to be shined up. • Michelle Posted : 1/28/2007 7:05:16 PM I had to have my stove worked on not too long after we moved in (the oven latch wasn't working right) and the Sears repair guy said the reason you should use the cooktop cleaner regularly (like once a week) is the same as why you should keep your car waxed, it provides  a protective coating that helps keep it clean. That said, I neither keep my cook top or my car regularly cleaned and waxed! I have found that a bottle of that stuff goes a long way though. • jeano Posted : 1/28/2007 7:13:36 PM My boyfiends SWEARS that if you wash the top with soapy water, and DON'T rinse it that all stuff will come off really easily. He's been so obnoxious about it that I haven't tried it yet, LOL! It's supposed to work on all stoves. I had an old old JennAir (circa 1970) glass top all electric at one of the houses I rented and hated every minute of it. This house didn't have a stove when I bought it, so I bought propane and a gas stove and had the boyfiend install it for me. I'm very happy now.
