almost lost him

That's it!  I'm not leaving home ever again!  I go away for a weekend & too many bad things happen to I-Dogs.  I'm soooooooo glad that you & Hawk are okay.  Don't worry about us yelling @ you.  You're among fellow dog people & we totally understand.

I'm almost speechless.  I think I was holding my breath as I read your accout.  What a story.  I completely understand your jumping in after him.  They're our kids. I get it - but I understand you hubby giving you a speech b/c he didn't want to lose you.

How very smart you are to think of running to the other side to get around the muck, and to pull your clothes off. And how very strong you must be.  After a long day walking, you were still able to do what had to be done.

When I was first reading the post, I thought hubby was back at the truck, and he could come help you.  Wow, I couldn't believe you were there alone.  You even had the strength to carry him back to the truck.  By yourself.  Wow.    Love and adrenaline is an amazing gift.  You certainly had both.   I am so glad that you are both safe and warm.

Wow what a scary story! The most danger we have with poodles is when they fall off the couch.

What a scary thing to happen!! I'm so glad both you and Hawk are ok. I wonder if he'll be afraid of lakes for a while?

Thanks everyone.  I knew you guys would understand.   I was wondering the same thing myself about him being afraid of water now.  I hope not though.  He seems to have gotton over the keeping me in sight now.  He is back to running big in the field during training.   There used to be times that I would get mad at him when he would not make a retrieve or the hold point. But now  I smile everytime I see him.  The funny thing is I always wondered what I would do if Hawk really needed me to rescue him.  I mean I have given him first aid plenty of times but this time it was different....you know.   Anyway I guess I just needed to hear that I wasn't completely crazy for jumping in and getting him.

Wow, I have chillbumps. You know, it never even occurred to me that you *wouldn't* jump in after him - because I would have. No lecture here, and I'm so glad both of you are OK!

I think you would have been crazy to NOT go in.
