Is Your Dog a "Nosey Parker" too?

I get really embarrassed walking my dog around the neighborhood. If we pass a parked car with someone in it, he has to stop and stare! And heaven forbid someone happens to open their front door. He will actually take a seat on the sidewalk and watch them until they leave. Even if I make him move on his head is turned at 90 degrees checking out the action. Most people seem OK with his nosey nature, but occassionally I can tell it is unsettling for some. Anyone else have a nosey dog?

OH I HAVE ONE OF THOSE!  Dottie is the self-appointed welcome committee for the neighborhood.  She has simply NO doggie sense that will tell her whether one person or another will like her or not.  She just goes for it and yes, you sure can tell if some people are not dog or animal ;people.  I need a sign that says:  Over Enthusiastic Dog Alert -- Cannot Control Her Licker!

Bronx is most defanatly the noseie old man next door he has to see where every one is and what they are doing. I just give him a pop on the leash and use my "leave it" command. That way he knows I see what he sees and we can continue our walk.

Oh yes. Everyone in the world, and their dogs, are here to love and pet and be kissed by Rupert.

So, we have a red Subaru Forester. And both dogs have a bit of an obsession with any other Subaru Forester, most especially red ones. They think every one they see is their car, and why aren't we getting in it, and is daddy in there? There's another red Forester of our same make in our neighborhood and one time I was walking them and it pulled right up to park in front of us and the dogs just about had a stroke trying to figure out why daddy wasn't in there and we weren't getting in it. The woman who was in the car stayed in it for a really long time talking on her phone or whatever and the dogs refused to believe it wasn't their car. They wouldn't continue on their walk. I had to finally put the kybosh on it and scoot them forward. I'm sure that woman was totally freaked out at these two big dogs staring her down in her car.

Meanwhile, Conard definately notices when people in cars are looking at him. He's very vain. If someone drives by and points at him he starts prancing around and giving them googly eyes.

Soooo, when I come to steal Conrad and Marlowe, all I have to do is drive a red Subaru Forester, and they'll jump right in? [sm=biggrin.gif]

I cracked up when I read this. Too funny!!  Both of our boys aren't really nosey - they just think that everyone we pass is obligated to pay attention to them...it gets bad...if the person continues about their business, both boys commence to causing the most obnoxious ruckus...definitely gets embarrassing!

A few years ago, we lived in a different neighborhood and knew our neighbors pretty well. They had a very handsome male Doberman, and they'd invite Axl over a few times a week to play with him.

Axl has always been GREAT about respecting property lines and never ever EVER leaving the yard under any circumstances. Because of that, he's always been allowed outside on his own...usually, he just flops down somewhere in the sun, has a nap, and comes back in.

Well, that day, I had just let Axl outside for a bit to get some fresh air. About 10 minutes later, one of the neighbors comes over and rings the doorbell. I answer, and she is CRACKING UP laughing, and she just points at her driveway....I look, and there's Axl, sitting in the backseat of their car, panting and sitting pretty and ready to go.

Apparently, Axl had seen them getting ready to go somewhere, and couldn't resist. She said he came running at about 90 miles an hour from our yard, and FLEW into their car. Then, he promptly ignored all please to exit the vehicle.

It took a whole bag of treats to finally lure him out. When he saw them leaving, I think he realized that he'd been had. He sulked for the rest of the day. [sm=biggrin.gif]

Aww, that's cute.  I'd be flattered to get that kind of attention from anyone's dog!

Isis is nosey about cars or trucks taht pull alongside of us when we're waiting at a stop sign/light.  She gets all excited about the person/s in the vehicle and she stares at them adn wags her tail. I think she believes they pulled up for her.  There's usually a reaction from the people in the car, too. Lots of laughing and smiles.

This is so funny!  I have a Subaru Legacy wagon, and a guy I'm seeing (who the dogs adore) has a Subaru Impreza WRX STI.  I'm convinced that the boxer engines sound different than others, because Cuma gets really excited if we see any Subaru while on a walk, especially an Impreza.  Blitz is oblivious.

As for being nosy, Blitz whines pathetically if not allowed to greet every dog in the neighborhood, and by greet, I mean pounce on, chew on (not literally, but he's very mouthy), and annoy in any other way he can come up with. [8|]

LOLOLOLOL!!! I have the same type of dog. Shannara is actually shy but Bubbles...@@. I think she knows she is cute and has to try any way to have someone look at her.

Yep.  Nosy Parker here, too.  If we pass a car  that just happens to have an open door, Max  just assumes it's an ivitation to him to go along. There's a house we pass where they have a cat.  Max knows the cat lives there and each time we walk past that house he sits down in front of it and just stares at the garage door - like he's willing it to open.

Not so much with car doors, but any open door to a house or business that we pass, Marlowe just assumes that the red carpet is rolled out for him and it's time to make our grand entrance!
