    I'm addicted

to looking at who is available at our local SPCA - its where we got Bugsy from and its around the corner
we can't adopt any more at this time but I fall in love with so many and look and see who takes ages to get adopted
    here's the dog search link

I do the same, I used to volunteer at the local SPCA, and two of the dogs came from their, so even though I couln't get another dog I still look just because I'm curious. And since I used to volunteer somethimes I even see dogs that are back at SPCA because they got returned, which is always sad.

wow I just looked at that link and your spca has alot of very different looking dogs, all the dogs here are usually labs or pit bulls

its always interesting to see 'who's in'
They update the site every hour to reflect who has come or gone

wow every hour! that must be a full time job, I was surprised that there were not more dogs actually, do they have a high adoption rate?

Don't know what sort of rate they have - the pups go fast, early this morning there were 5 pages of dogs so they are down to 3 pages now.  Its a superbly run facility with great volunteers and wonderful staff.  We do all that we can to support them.  I think last year they homed 3200+ animals  (they've got cats, bunnies, reptiles various rodents etc).  Some poor pups nearly grow up there ( one was there from 4 mos to about 10 mos old I think)  Others don't last a day.  They spay/neuter all and screen applicants with a reasonable level of scrutiny.  The dogs are all assessed by a color coding system to recommend who they are best suited to.
Like I said great operation - wish i could do more to help them out.
We give them food regularly, attend their events, have helped sponsor some events.
Best of the year is the 'dog walk'.  They close down central downtown Raleigh and have an entire park set up for  vendors, the dogs (pools, water, etc) a band,  contests, general silliness and there is a  3k walk through the streets - probably one of the coolest events I've ever been to.
