    Boarding - North Dallas Area

Hey, taking a trip in August\September just wanted to see if anyone had opinions on places to board or place to avoid. I live north of Dallas in Denton County. Distance is a little bit of an issue, I obviously don't want to board in Ft Worth but.....

So, any help would be appreciated. I have looked at Dogs Rule Resort and will look also into Train\Board at Mans Best Friend. Anyone have experiences with these places?

Oh, and 3-4 dogs to board (Mine, my sister has 2 and my brother has one)

    -Thanks

I would NOT recommend Man's Best Friend.

Doggy Daze (I think that's the name) on NW Highway @ Ferndale is great if you've got dogs that do well with others in groups. We've also used Canine Country Club and been very happy with them for my grumpy boy Indy.

OK sorry to get OT here but I don't know of any good boarding places.  Gina, who is your vet in Fort Worth?  Just curious?  It isn't Dr. Mellina is it?

Oh Gosh Sarah don't make me spell his name lmao! It's Dr "F" out of Eastern Hills Pet Hospital. He breeds/bred Standard Poodles and is a very nice old school vet...the kind that doesn't hassle breeders and understands us weird folks who show lol!

I am so terrified because he is getting up there and I don't know WHAT I'm gonna do when he retires! [&:] My FIL Ron is a vet in OK and he does most of the general stuff and gives me flea meds and HW stuff....for free so that's great. But I use Dr F for say....c sections...x rays...other stuff that comes up between times. Our cats are with him as well.

Can I ask why not mans best friend? I have only heard the commercials on the radio but just curious.

    Thanks everyone for your responses.

Because I have never heard ANYTHIGN but negative stories from them and have personally witnessed some rather hair-raising 'training' while in one of their locations looking for a check cord of a specific brand for a friend. I'm *not* an entirely positive trainer, and I felt very strongly that the trainer (the HEAD trainer, as he took pains to tell me when I asked him about the method after the client left with their dog at the end of the hour) was being extremely, extremely heavy-handed with a prong collar on a young shepherd (about 4 months old.) The dog was from 'the best police bloodlines' and 'that's how you have to handle them or they get dominant'. I'm *not* a shepherd person, but this is very inconsistant with the training I've watched shepherd friends do.
