Spoiled Dog - new baby...

    Spoiled Dog - new baby...

My wife is now 10 weeks pregnant and I'm starting to get a little concerned about how Presley is going to react. Presley is the most loving gentle dog - she does growl at dogs soemtimes but when she gets close to them she immediatly does the play bow and it's play time even before the traditional but sniffing starts.

Anyway, my concern is that she is spoiled rotten - she knows when it is bedtime and if we are up a little later then usual she will sit on the stairs and, well I'll call it growel but it's clearly much more irritation then anything else. She simply expects to be let on the bed before we go to sleep and in the morning - actually when I pick her and put her in her bed she sigh's. She does the   irritated growel thing when she wants you to play with her, or there is food on the coutner she feels she should have.

There are a few other little things like that and when added together I'm a little concerned how she will react to a baby on the bed, havging our attention, etc. Any thoughts, experiances or tips you could share would be appreciated.

I'm an over thinker and a pessimist so I could be over reacting but...

Well, first congratulations! Second, there are a lot of threads on here about kids and babies and dogs, I'd suggest doing a search to see what advice you can find already, which includes lots of great suggestions for books as well. And third, you've got plenty of time to train yourselves and Presley and get used to the idea. Kudos for being appropriately concerned and wanting to be educated and prepared, not pessimistic, IMO!

Thanks - no idea why I didn't think to just do a search. I have to keep reminding myself we're not the first to do this!
