    High Maintenance: 90210

Let me just preface this post by saying that I am an entertainment junkie.  I love the E! channel.  Don't hate me!!  [:D]

Ok, has anyone seen the show High Maintenance:  90210?  The reason I am posting this in a dog forum is this.  There is a rich guy on there that hired this butler.  The rich guy has these two little dogs.  One is blue and one is pink.  My first question would be is this even safe to dye your dogs fur like that.  Next, it just really irks me that anyone would even want to do this.  The poor little things looked so embarrassed.  I just feel so sorry for them.  They look ridiculous.  I just want to go and rescue them, the poor little dears.

Anyone else want to weigh in on this?

I haven't but I don't suppose dying the fur is really much different than dressing them up.  I am sure they use safe dye.  My daughter has a ton  of clothes for Zoey and she loves putting different outfits on her.  I think Zoey is embarrassed tpp

I suppose that could be true to a point but clothes can be easily removed.  Looks are certainly a matter of taste.  But clothes are different because they can serve a purpose.  They can keep a dog warm or carry things.  I don't know if dogs get embarrassed.  Maybe if the owner likes it they wouldn't but dying my dog's fur is just something I would never ever do.  Just my opinion.

I saw a commercial for that show, and I will agree that the dogs look ridiculous and I can't think of a reason why that would be a good idea.  I actually think that dogs can feel embarassment, poor doggies.
There are dyes that are safe for dogs, but I can't understand how whoever is hired to do the dying would avoid the poor doggy's eyes.

errrm....you've never seen a dyed dog before? LOL...check out this link to a Grooming publication...they have SHOWS like people who do hair and carve fanciful creations including dye out of the dogs coat....quite amazing what they can do.

    YUP! Colored dogs are FUN!

I've been trying to figure coloring Emma for a couple of years. Silly JRT hair doesn't want to take a color, without resorting to Manic Panic (which is safe, but her skin is super sensitive, so I'm afraid to try it).

Oh Jennie! I had a friend who dyed her JRT all the time! I don't know what she used, but she was a groomer so it was something doggy appropriate.

There's a flyball team with some toy poodles that races around here, that dyes them tie dye colors (team name Psychodelic Blur).

I've always joked if I ever end up with a Crested, I am SO going to dye the dog's furnishings like, purple or something, put a sticker on it's butt, and tell people it's a battery-powered My Little Pony. *snicker*

THAT would be utterly hilarious! I always wanted to put the stick on tatoos on one[:D]

Becca, Emma has a weird coat. It's broken, but it's super "soft". It never got that wirey thing that it's supposed to have. It's coarse, soft, and water resistant. I don't think it absorbs ANYTHING. I wouldn't even bathe her, if she wasn't itchy. Everything just falls off of her coat. It's crazy[;)]

I love my dogs broken coats!  Unless they are really dirty, I just brush them and all the dirt comes off.  We have one dog at my mentor's that loves to go into the pond in the summer...she comes out looking like a green monster, and the next she's normal again!
I would never dye my dogs hair.  I know a lot of show people do though.  Usually on dogs that have faded some.  I've heard of BCs, cockers, and even an Italian Greyhound being dyed to brighten their colors.

I guess to each his own, but I thought it was rediculous what he did to those dogs.

a ex coworker of mine used food die to color her dog. she tested it out by putting it in her eyes first[&:] (dont ask I dont know) But she said that it didnt heart her dog and the dog was pink most of the time.

I personally wouldn't ever do it to a dog.  I just don't have the heart to do it.  A friend of mine did dye his American Eskimo dog green for St. Patty's day (Savannah is CRAZY for St. Patty's day).  Unforturnately, I never got to see him this way, but I heard it was pretty funny.....poor dog.

I think I'll just settle for getting Max a green shamrock bandanna for St. Patricks Day. [:D]

I would be the joke of the neighborhood, I live out in the boonies, and the only dogs I see out here are hearty breeds.

I guess this neighborhood has no fashion sense.....[:D][:D]
