My dog, the American Pit Bull Terrier is not on the list, not AKC recognized.... but Amstaffs are # 66...

Well I'm on opposite ends of the spectrum.  Labs are #1 and the next breed I'm getting isn't recognised.  LOL.

My favorite scent hound is at the bottom of the list as well...Harriers.  What a well kept secret those dogs are! (Don't go telling anyone either)

My all time favorite breed is near the bottom of the list as well.  I've dreamt of being owned by an Otterhound for as long as I can remember.

Well, there are only two dogs like Sofia in the whole world, Sofie and her sister, so I'd say her kind is safe from overbreeding...especially since they are both spayed! [:D]

Norwegian Elkhounds are #92, up from #96 last year. I hope they don't get too pupular (on purpose typo) but I DO wish there was a good breeder in Alaska!

Next Spring, after the fence and back door are in, I'm gonna get an elkie one way or another....

    Labs- Number 1 both years
Lhasa Apsos- 46, 39 last year Yay!
Pembroke Welsh Corgis- 22, 23 last year
Pomeranians (Baxter half # 1)- 14 both years
Chihuahuas (Baxter half #2)- 11 both years

I would love to see each one of my breeds under 100.  Maybe then the BYBs will be less likely to try and make a buck off of them.

What great dogs they are too...Like most hounds...they act like they've not a care in the world.  I just think that's too much cuteness for my house!

    Bearded Collies #104, not bad.

I was surprised to see border collies as #58, I would think they are more popular then that, I've seen them everywhere but I guess it's only counting the registered dogs so the numbers can be a little off.

I think it was the Today Show (ugg) that featured the top 10 dogs on the AKC list. When I saw that I told myself I'll never get a pure breed dog that is in the top 10 unless it is a rescue.

Shiba Inu up 65 from 66, and every year they gain more pupularity the worse the breeding gets, and the more BYB, puppymills and petshops have them, hope your favored breed never gains pupularity.

#34 (Aussie) and #35 (Pap) I too, also do wish that Paps were on the bottom of the list...
