VET ASAP. And isolate the sick dog immediately! Emergency vet if your regular vet isn't open right now!

Keep the other dogs away from his stool and vomit, of course. I hope he doesn't have parvo! Let us know what happens, please! Sending good vibes for his getting well and it NOT being parvo...

he is outside right now but before we go to bed we are going to swhut him up in the bathroom and if he gets sick in there we are going to bleach the flood there are no vets open until the morn so i hope he will be okay till then it

Kacie, if he's this violently sick now he should go to the vet! Don't you have an emergency vet in your town? Where are you?

If my dog were that sick I'd be distraught!

Are your dogs vaccinated against parvo?

Dogs don't show sickness the way people do. Lots of times they can be sick and they only show it by acting tired or listless, or not eating, or not pooping. By the time they are as sick as you have described your pup, it's very important to get help right away! Not only could he die, but even if he didn't die, think of how he is suffering. [sm=sad.gif]

You asked for help, I don't know what you wanted.....we aren't vets here, but what you describe is a very ill dog.

A lot of tmes if you call your vet they will give you the contact info of an emergency vet or page your vet.  Do NOT be afraid of waking people up.  We have had to do this many times when we have had sick/injured horses and the vets really don't mind--they just want to help your pet.

I agree that the vet is a NOW issue.  But something here doesn't ring quite true.  A three month old pup should not have been infested with heartworms, nor should he have been treated and "cured" this young.  The heartworm treatment process is months long.

Leaving him outside was probably not the best idea.  Now your other dogs CANNOT be let out in that area.  If this is parvo, it will live in the soil for a couple years and continue to be lethal to any and all animals that happen there.

We aren't vets, altho we have a few on the forum, but even they can't diagnose sight unseen.  It would be foolish for them to try, and dangerous.  This pup needs to be vetted imediately.

Glenda, you are right about that. I didn't catch that. She was posting about 1am my time so I was more concerned with the description of the current sickness.

I wonder how this poor dog is doing today....

    Kacie, how's the pup today?

It is literally impossible for the pup to have had heartworms.  They take 6 months to gestate from microfilaria to adult heartworms.  So it is simply not possible.  You are probably getting them confused with another type of worm.  There are many intestinal worms he could have.  And I agree...Vet ASAP!!  If he has parvo, you have quite a mess on your hands and your other dogs are in big trouble, especially the mother and pup.  Find out now!!!

Glenda, you are right about that. I didn't catch that.

I also am not clear as to how many dogs are here?  Am I correct in counting 6?  What is a fuzzy dog and puppy?  Plus 2 Chis and 2 pits?  There has to be an emergency vet somewhere in the area.  Having small ;puppies and other assorted dogs would mandate a need for a vet contact 24/7.  I hope everything is okay and you can get a vet contact for future emergencies.

    Kacie,

What happened with the pit bull puppy?

I'm afraid we're not going to ever know.  I suspect my post scared the OP off.

Naw, I just think this was either a teenager who had little control over the situation, or the dog died that night, or both. [sm=sad.gif] We were all pretty emphatic with her, but it seemed like she needed to know that it was life or death, most likely. You were fine, Glenda!

Glenda, she never even saw your post (at least by my math) ... she only posted between like a half hour window and was last on about 2 hours BEFORE you posted.

She probably can't even remember where the board is ...

Just fyi -- now they are finding dogs BORN with heartworm ... Mom has it while she carries the pups and the larval stage apparently can simply travel thru the bloodstream to the pups, so they are literally born with it (just like heartworm will migrate from heart to lungs and to other parts of the body small ones can migrate into the unborn pups apparently).  They are finding it quite frequently down here in the South.  *sigh*
