    Speeding Cars (Neighbors)

I'm wondering if any of you ever get annoyed by your neighbors who speed past your house at 30 mph or more?  I was out letting my dog pee near our mailbox, and this guy must have been going 40 mph right past me!  I waved my hand up and down and said "slow down."  We were probably 4 feet from the car.  That doesn't help though.  They'll probably just think you're crazy.  How do you deal with it?  There is nothing you can do is there?  It's so annoying.  I never drive faster than 20 when I drive up the street.  It's a small neighborhood that goes around in a U-shaped circle attached to a main road.

Although it is frustrating (and over the speed limit), the onus to keep the dog safe and off the road belongs to us, the owners.

You can always call the local police station and ask if they will step up their speed limit enforcement for a while.  They can't help you if they don't know it's a problem.

My parents have that problem in their neighborhood. Whenever I visit, I'm afraid to walk the dogs because people go flying through so fast we literally have to run out of the way of speeding cars. My parents have complained several times and we've never seen an officer in their neighborhood, so I don't think they're taking the complaints seriously. Kids play in the streets there...it's only a matter of time before someone's child, or dog, ends up dead. [&o]

i am more concerned about the idiot kids that live in our neighborhood. 1. cars drive too fast in our neighborhood. 2. idiot kids dont seem to realize that the cars out weigh them by several thousand pounds and therefore dont bother to get out of the street when one is approaching.

one day one of them will get hit. maybe that will slow people down, but i doubt it. since there arent any sidewalks in our neighborhood, it is dangerous to even walk the dogs. i have to keep the leash short and lots of times get into other people's yards because of inconsiderate drivers. it's a neighborhood damn it not a race track.

My street is awful and I am right between 2 schools, although at certain times there is so much trafiic that you can't move.
I do worry about my neighbor's dogs.  I actaully look accross the street for other dogs before I go out with Abbi, who is always on leash, because  a few times my neighbor's dog have run across the road to see her.

the side road where I live is fine, but the main road (residential) is a speed zone!!! And usually out of staters [:@] (lot of 2nd homes here).
My son once nearly got hit by a guy's side view mirror. The guy was flying and he got so close to my son if he had tripped he would have been killed. I taught that driver some new words!!!
Writer down the license plate # of the offending driver and report to the police.

When my best friend and I were younger, her dad would see a car speeding town the road and take our basketball and roll it into the street. He sure scared the heck out of some of them.

I've noticed that they tend not to take these things too seriously [:@] until someone is injured or killed.  Then the stop signs or lights go up.  You'd think they would rather prevent an injury or death but that doesn't seem to be the case most places.

I wish I'd thought of that.

Well, in my neighborhood you can be mowed down by a car, a pickup, a van, a snowmachine, a dog team.....
