I would be happy to donate to your future senior care area, please do update us if and when it happens.

Ditto, for me, Trudy and Gracie, too.

I'm not going to give energy to the woman who left her tied up (toxic).  I'm saving it for you!  I truly wish you all good things.  Babe is a truly lucky girl because you have her, now.  She'll blossom.

Against my better judgment I looked at your site, Angel.   Don't know how you do it.  I try to avoid these things because any help I afford cannot be done when I'm blubbering and depressed. That GSD,  oh  Lord...

I have a friend who wants to get a dog.  Your site will be one more push for the shelter instead of a breeder.  (Not that there's anything wrong wtih good breeders)  Thanks for the added ammunition.

My diabolical mind started thinking... what if you went to your local newspaper and told them you had a good story for them? If you needed to, I bet you could get donations if they ran your story, and if you didn't need/want the donations, then it would at least help raise public awareness.

She thinks a Rottie at 7 is too old to take care of ?

I have a 13 year old GSD and a 7 year old GSD, I could not imagine doing that to them..........they are family, and I owe them a good life, just like the younger ones I have......

I am sure she will get her's in the end.
Another reason why I can't stand most people.[:@]

Nancy, if you didn't break down and blubber, you would not be the compassionate person you are.

I do break down and cry. Sometimes I grieve over these poor pets for days. I give them the only kindness some of them have ever known and tell each one I love them. To meet me at the Rainbow Bridge one day. I know they will be there. I know in reality I cannot save them all. But I do know I can write letters to the editor with a new story or educational idea of a story in hopes it helps to further educate people in my home town, that animals are not disposable but capable of feeling pain, emotions, and depression just like we are. That taking on the care and responsiblity of a pet is for the rest of it's life, not ok, the novalty has worn off now throw that one out and get something else.

I was able to save the Chihuahua, but not the German Shepherd. He didn't die alone. I talked the shelter staff into allowing me to hold him while he quietly slipped away in my arms. Tears staining my cheeks and softly talking to him. I named him Rue and told him to meet with the rest of my Rainbow kids, that not all humans were this horrible. I still cry when I think of him.

AC did nothing. They didn't file charges against his previous owners because he was an "owner surrender" Even though he was in such deplorable shape. In my opinion, people like this should NOT have any pet, period.

The only thing any rescuer can do is be pleased they rescued one or saved one from certain death in these low funded shelters and know you did a good deed for that pet. And made the others that were not able to be rescued in time, felt loved and in most cases for the first time in their entire life.

It brings me joy when I know there are other people out there like us who do appreciate and care for their fur kids like we do and understand it is a life time commitment.

I had thought of calling her but right now i would probably just spit, stutter and utter profanity. That probably wouldnt help.Maybe after i calm down a bit!
Babe was SOOO happy today when i went back to get her! Her big butt was just wiggling! She may only be 7 but she has the heath issues of a much older dog.She is nearly blind, deaf and has difficulty walking. She can barely manage the 2 steps to get outside to the yard. She unfortunately doesnt have much time yet.I dont know what made this woman think that this was a dog that would enjoy the company of a young, hyper puppy! She now has some seperation issues. She doesnt want me out of her sight so i ended up taking her around on my errands today. She loves riding in the car! One good thing about pulling her from the pound is we get a free vet visit. We will get her is very soon.Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement! I will post back when our senior sponsor program starts up!
On top of this we also got a 12 week old hound pup in this morning. He is the tiny runt of the litter and i just noticed that he has some sort of large lump starting at the top behind his ear going all the way to his jaw.I have no idea what this could be! When it rains it pours!

Yup!  Me too.  I have this dream of winning the lottery & starting up a retirement home for unwanted senior dogs.

I'm sooooo glad that Babe is in your loving home.  Please give her some scratches from me.  Oh & a few kisses too.

Its actually happening already! I am going out tomorrow to clean the place up,finish putting up the temporary winter fenceing and we will be moving in soon! Thanks to my rescue partner who has much better credit and a boarding/grooming business who bought the property. We will be having a retail pet supply store to generate funds for the rescue. She already has a large customer base so i hope it is successfull. As the funds come in we will expand so these seniors can have a nice, comfortable place to spend their last years. Its a dream coming true! We will have more room for adoptable fosters as well.
For thoes of you that remember Mia the 15-17 year old husky someone dumped off here, you will be glad to hear she is still doing great! Happy and healthy as can be expected at her age. When i come home she even has a moment of spunkyness, hopping up and down and wagging her tail! Im hoping through the senior sponsor program to be able to get her dental work done.

I HATE it when people dump their older dogs!! I hope their families dump them when they get too old and no one wants to take care of them. GRRRR What about all the love and devotion the dog has given over the years. Gesh. And I agree 7 isn't that old even for a bigger breed. My older corgi will be 15 this March. She has several health issues and taking care of her is work. But I would never abandon her because of it. I will be there for her right up to when it's her time to move on. I couldn't even imagine not being there for her.

You are wonderful to take Babe (and the other dogs) and give her the love she needs and deserves. Thank you for being there for them all.

You are so wonderful for taking Babe in.  I just don't understand people, everyday i look at my dogs, especially the older ones, and send up a silent prayer for many more years with them.

We are in northern NY,next to Ft Drum army base. Our new place is in Natural Bridge NY.That is actually one of the biggest problems in the area.No offense to our soldiers but they do tend to abandon alot of dogs when they move.Babes owners are a military family.
We are pushing for having charges filed against her.I am taking the evidence i have and going to the sheriff myself and several phone calls were made this morning by a friend who is a po.lice officer himself. We are trying hard to make sure she doesnt get away with this.
Thank you all for your kind words and encouragement!
