People are sick- Show dogs killed

People are just sick.  Pulled this from my Chessie Forum...

"We were attending the dog shows in Tallmadge, OH this weekend. Yesterday morning a viszla exhibitor put two dogs in her car at the hotel, left her car running to defrost and went inside to get two other dogs. When she returned the car and dogs were gone. The car was found several hours later, but the thieves had set it on fire with the dogs inside and killed them.
At the show, a collection was made for a reward fund for the arrest and conviction of the thieves. People have good hearts and over $2000 was collected in the first hour.
I certainly know that I have been careless at shows about locking up and I guess this is a hard lesson but something we all need to do, even if it's inconvenient.
It makes me so sad to know that there are such crazy people out there"

That is very sad. Why would anyone do that to another living creature?

    People truly are sick. [:'(]

Oh, that's sad.  The poor dogs.  I'm sure there is a special place you know where for the people that did that to them.  And, people wonder why I prefer the company of animals??

Actually, from a Vizsla/Beagle friend on the lists, who was present at this show...the dogs/van were NOT purposely torched...the van was wrecked and the fire started then.

The dogs were curled up in a sleeping position when they were found, and it's believed they died of smoke inhalation. The owner involved has asked that this PLEASE not be crossposted anymore, as it is a criminal investigation and they have suffered a personal tragedy on top of that.

Dogs should not be in a car alone.

    sallya,

When people show dogs, especially the big time handlers, dogs are often left alone in kennels in their vans/RV's.  There's nowhere else to put the dogs (Crate space is limited at shows), and it serves as a place for the dogs to relax before/after they're shown.

I've seen a man show more than 12 dogs in a day (3 or 4 different breeds), and he was only allowed to bring in 4 crates, to be fair to other exhibitors (Even though the crates were stacked).  The other 8 dogs had to stay out in his Van...nowhere else for them to be.

My sympathy for the owners, and the poor animals who died.   So, so sad....

My heart is breaking for the owners of the dogs.  Run free, doggie doos!  [sm=angel.gif]
