Surgery for ingrown eyelashes

• Casey Posted : 1/2/2007 4:44:01 PM It wasn't my dog who I have seen go through this surgery, but I have seen quite a few (I used to work at a rescue) dogs and cats go through this successfully with no problems at all. • Lindsay- Bernie's Mom Posted : 1/2/2007 7:38:44 PM Entropion is relatively common and a fairly easy fix. It's definitely worth it for the dog's comfort. The surgery itself is basically plastic surgery. They usually remove (or use some similar method) a portion of the eyelid that is rolling, causing the eyelid to be 'tight' enough so that it can't roll under anymore. My roomates dog had it done and you would never know. They just flipped my lid inside out and plucked it but the reason I chose to share this is because IT IS SO UNCOMFERTABLE, to the point that I was freaking out, I wanted to claw my eye out!!!! • DPU Posted : 1/2/2007 9:51:06 PM My foster Newt just had the eye etropian surgery.  I had this experience a couple of times.  What the vet does is cuts out a pie-shape skin below the outer edge of the lower lid and then sutures.  The sutures are silk so they are less irrating.  There was not a lot of swelling in my 3 experiences.  I can tell the irritation and watering stops immediately.  The dog will have the stitches in for 10 days and will have to wear an e-collar.  That is the biggest problem because that e-collar is plastic, hard, and the dog is banging into everything including you.  Check out the different e-collars available and here is my experience and the responses I received.   http://forum.dog.com/asp/tm.asp?m=218687&mpage=1&key=𵟓 0 LIKE Like Share You have posted to a forum that requires a moderator to approve posts before they are publicly available.
