    Help may have swallowed something....

Hey all!! My 3 yr old was playing with her plastic play kitchen food and I noticed that the dog started gagging were the plastic french fries were laying.  I took her outside and she acted fine but every once in awhile she will cough or make a gagging motion as if she is going to throw up.  All in all she is acting normal besides that.  How can I check to see if she did possible swallowsomething or may even be lodged in her throat somehow.

Watch for vomiting.  That is is a sign the plastic has obstructed.  Search the poop for the plastic to see if it passed.  If vomiting starts go to the vet. If dog gets lethargic go to the vet.

My dog ate bunch of nylabone peices in one sitting and later puked it all up.  He made the gagging sounds like you describe

what type of dog and how many pounds and how big were the french fries?

Not sure of exact breed of dog we just got her.  She's probably about 25-30lbs.  The french fries are about 2 inches in length and about an inch thick.

Were the FF hollow or solid?  Thats sounds kinda large unless the dog chewed it up first hopefully.  Watch his poop and if he stops eating and drinking go to the vet.
Hopefully it will pass in his poop or he'll puke it up.

Hollysmom gave you great advice. I hope everything turns out ok with your pup.

A couple of weeks ago, I was walking down the stairs and at the bottom of the stairs I saw that Zoe had left a little goodie for me.  In the midst of the "goodie" was one of my yellow earplugs that I wear at night for sleeping!  I have a couple of pairs, because it is common for me to "lose" on in the middle of the night.  I guess Zoe found one!

Hope your situation turns out as good as mine!

So, you're not sure if the plastic french fries are missing or not?

Didn't you recently adopt this dog? Reason I ask, I'm wondering if she's developed kennel cough. My new rescue has it, and being unfamiliar with how it sounds, my DH was sure the puppy was choking on a piece of tug toy. Turns out he was just coughing! The kennel cough does actually sound like gagging, as if the dog has something stuck in it's throat.

Might not be that at all, but something to consider if it continues, and you're pretty sure the french fries weren't eaten.
