    Conformation

I want to do conformation with Joy. She comes from working lines, but she has outstanding conformation. the only problem is the breeder doesn't register her dogs with the AKC. I've been doing pedigree work, and she doesn't have any dogs in the past 4 generations that are AKC reg. She is, however, registered with the ABCA. Is there any way I can do this with her? Does the ABCA host shows?

I stand corrected,,, thanks for the correct information

Nope ABCA is not a recognized agency in the eyes of UKC or AKC (with respect to accepting a pedigree to be recognized as eligible)  YOu can show her in juniors.

You might want to check with the AKC, since back when registration was open, I was able to register my ABCA Border Collie. I know that the Stud books are now closed, but I think I heard somewhere that the AKC will still accept ABCA dogs under certian conditions.

I would assume we're talking border collies?  If that is the case, yes, you can register your dog with AKC (full registration) if she's registered ABCA.  I forget the exact process but if you call or email AKC they can tell you what you need to do.  You'll need to include the pedigree, pictures of her (side and front shot) and I think that's about it.  ABCA borders and ISDS borders (whelped in UK) are eligible for full registration with AKC.

Keep in mind that if you finish your girl's AKC conformation championship, ABCA will pull her ABCA registration.  I finished my working bcs championship just for fun and received the letter from ABCA a few months later, telling me that she was no longer registered with their organization.  It's not a big deal to me, as we can still run in stockdog trials and her kids continue to run in stockdog trials, etc.

Finishing a working bred bc is not easy (usually), but we had fun doing it!

UKC recognizes the ABCA as a club for registration. Just single register her with UKC and you can then do conformation with them...it is GOOD fun! Below are all acknowledged registries for BC's for UKC.
