    I'm such a sucker!

Today, I was talking to a woman who was checking out through my line.  She was telling me about the Chinese Crested that she found and rescued from being shot.  She was trying to find him a home.  Lately, those have been on my mind a lot.  I keep looking at petfinder just to see whats available.  Even though, just a few weeks ago, I would not have ever thought of getting one.  I really did not like them at all.  Now, I love them!  So, I told her that I really can't have another dog, but I would love to at least see him.  I really should not get another dog now and don't really plan on getting him, but I would at least like to help find him a good home.  I have a friend who was thinking of getting one, and I could help find a breed rescue for sure.  Now, hopefully, he isn't nearly as cute as Brookcove's Zhi...I won't be able to say no!  But, at least by meeting him, I will have an idea of his personality so I can help her find him a very good home!

To ColleenC, as a chinese crested owner I say go for it. They are wonderful little dogs and you never regret getting one. I have a powderpuff and she is amazing. She is a retired champion that needed a pet home and boy did I get lucky. She was 6 when I got her and  had not been groomed for a while and was aloud to get all matted and so she was all shaved down when I got her but her coat has all grown back now and she is beautiful. I got her CGC and her therapy dog certificate and she is  now a working therapy dog and goes to a nursing home everyweek. Cresteds are very loving and full of humor. Both the hairless and the powderpuff have the same temperament, I just happen to prefer the powderpuff, although myn girl has a hairless son that I would take is a New York minute if he was ever available, but he won't be for a long time.

The lady brought him in today, and he was just as cute as Brookcove's Zhi!  You could tell he came from pretty good bloodlines because he had a wonderful coat, great teeth, and his skin was very nice.  He is registered, but I don't have a clue about the bloodlines.  He is pretty young, around 5-6 months.  I decided not to take him though.  He is intact(as he should be at that age), but with another intact male, it might turn into disaster.  I would have had him neutered, but in the meantime, it would have been a bit too much.  They may have gotten along great though because both of them play with other intact males with no problems.  But, I did find him an AWESOME home!  A girl who was in my animal science classes and also works with my mentor as her academic advisor.  She came in like 10 minutes after the lady left.  I told her about the dog and she called right away and took him home 15 minutes later!  She is a vet student, one of the few that I actually trust at this school.  She took him home right away and gave him a bath and bought him a new sweater.  Then she brought him back so I could see him again.  I think it worked out perfectly!  I would love to have one in the near future though!

That's great! Did you get a photo of him?

Cresteds are my "unicorn" dog (Unicorns are really cool, but I don't want a horse that can fly away!). I adore them, drool for them, want ALL of them, but they're not really suited to me very well. I really enjoy fawning over them, when I get to see them, though!
