Dog shoes for IN the house?

Dog shoes for IN the house?

So we just had our white-like color carpet cleaned yesterday and I just took Star for a walk.  I figured I could just wipe her feet with these wipes each time we come inside to get the dirt off.  I was amazed to see just how much black came off her feet onto the wipe.

This is kind of out there, but do any of you know if they make dog shoes for INdoors? She can walk around in her indoor shoes on the carpet and I could take them off when we go outside.  And the indoor shoes will stay clean...

Does this product exist or am I nuts?  I'm sure other people out there have light colored carpet too (and if you don't know already, even if they don't walk IN dirt, their feet are still super dirty after a walk)

Why not have her wear the shoes when she's outside and take them off at the door as she's about to come inside?

Well I thought about that but then I thought she's not going to want to wear them when she's running full speed at the dog park and stuff like that.. Not to mention look silly.. I'm thinking about the shoes as more of slippers for "lounging" around indoors (walking around on the carpet)

This raises another question.  Is it bad or unhealthy in some way for them to wear shoes/slippers in the house for long periods of time?

Not sure if there are shoes made specifically for indoors, but I have seen some shoes for really small dogs that look like human shoes at human accessory stores.
We bought our pointer some of the typical boots and when we put them on her she would lift her legs up to her chest when she walked.  It was hilarious.  I guess she'd hate if she had to wear those all of the time.  lol.

Just what I wanted to hear haha.. Well Star got used to her backpack, her clothes, so maybe she'll get used to shoes =) I found a ton of them on ebay that I'm looking at now...

honestly, from what i've seen, dogs do not like wearing shoes. i would go with outside shoes if you are that set on shoes. i would think that is unhealthy to make her wear the dirt on her paws all day under the indoor shoes, not to mention uncomfortable. trust me, i know how well white carpet goes with dogs, but i would rather have a happy dog than a pristine floor.

OK, perhaps shoes isn't the answer; maybe socks of some sort would be better..

a friend of mine taught her dog to stop on the rug by the back door and get her feet washed after being outside.  the dog would not get off the rug till feet were washed and dryed... myself i opted to forego the white carpet home [;)]

yeah it's going to be a pain in the butt to wipe her paws clean each and every time....The white carpet was here before the dog was here... I'm going to get her some shoes or socks and see how it goes..

Maybe you could check out places like Home Depot or Lowes for a good sized area rug to  just put over the carpeting - one in a color that won't show doggy footprints. It might be easier than getting a dog to keep shoes and/or socks on inside.
