Am I?

I think a lot of us are the same way with the furry kids that we are with the two legged furless ones. Some people rush off the the doctor at the first sign of a sniffle, others wait awhile and see how it goes. Doesn't make you a bad mom.

Yes, but my fur kids are my kids right now, I don't have any children of my own....yet. :)

Since I don't know you nor have I followed your posts, I cannot really comment on your dog ownership skills but I have to honestly say that I think you blew ***** responce out of proportion...

SO here is my honest opinion...I do not think that **** was overly harsh with her first responce to you ...I actually see a lot of care and concern for your dogs well being in it. BUT I believe that something in her reply (that wasn't intended to be a dig) caused you to became too sensitive with your reply back to her "apparently..." thus her responce back to you...

You have to know that when you are on a forum you are going to get some replies you are not happy about that just comes with the territory...

Honestly Jen, I would just let it roll off your back [;)]

    Hope Maggie is doing OK![:D]

    Shelly,
I believe this is the sentence that probably caused Jen to get a little upset: "As it is, I am wondering why you would wait three days before calling your vet."
I can see how, if I came here and I wasn't a frequent poster on these forums, this might offend me, especially if I was unsure about something going on with my dog.

    *Edited for content*

If any of you wonder why I wrote that, why not just ask me instead of speculating what an awful person I must be for saying it.  Had the OP responded that she was waiting because she couldn't afford it, I would have offered her several links to charity organizations, which I have done before on this forum.  Usually, people are offended if you do that first, and they come back and suggest you must be an idiot for thinking they couldn't afford a vet for their dog, and how dare you say so.  (Although, we certainly have had our share of people on this forum who have pretty obviously not wanted to spend the money to treat their dogs.)  So, I guess you can't win.  You may not like what I say, but the vet in this case pretty much echoed what I, and others, suggested should have been done for this dog (or any vomiting dog), and our OP is now saying that she realizes that.  Personally, I find her willingness to say that she perhaps should have called the vet sooner refreshing.  At least she is willing to think about the whole thing and learn - so thumbs up to her. Funny, you all have a lot to say about my original posts, but look at the red ink over here!

It was never a money issue.....Nor did I ever say it was a money issue..

Anyway, Thanks to everyone who helped and were kind. I'm done and over this, and have been.

I wouldn't say you are a bad owner.  But then again, I haven't read the original posts so I can't tell.  Don't worry, Riley throws up frequently.  Of course, it's because he was eating grass, and all dogs throw up after eating grass (I think?).  It's natural (I think).  He always does it at the most inconvenient times, like when I'm walking him.  Then I have to stand there for like, 10 minutes while he's gagging, then he throws up, then he looks at me, wags his tail, and keeps walking like nothing happened.

Yeah, and especially since you only read what they say, and you can't actually hear their tone of voice or anything.  You can't see their facial expressions either, which is where the emoticons come in, as they are the closest things to facial expressions![;)]

all dogs throw up after eating grass

Nope. Shadow will eat grass and grass roots and not throw up.
